Shouldn't Mana Drain be tuned down a little?

I feel that mana drain rare monsters draining my full mana in 3-5 seconds is overtuned.

Maybe when I'm level 80 and stacking 7000 mana, I can actually get spells off as the mob is draining my mana. But during the campaign, it feels just unreasonably strong.

It feels like it's maybe tuned for endgame power and never bothered to be scaled down for the campaign, maybe?

Stick right against them (or don't let them approach)! Their mana drain is like a donut. It doesn't work when they're right next to you.
The issue is that almost all modifiers are easily dialed to the extreme. 1-hit on-death effects are the most criticized in the community. My Deadeye Ranger heals from 1 to 1500 in a matter of 2 seconds and I didn't even focus on life leech in the slightest, it's just randomly part of my equipment. Mana drain isn't just a "drain", it's a mana deleting mechanic. If I stand in the aura, it's gone instantly. Damage scales towards insta-killing the entire screen.

There's barely any moderation when it comes to balancing. It boils down to "you dead" or "enemy dead".

Ah I was completely unaware of that. Thank you! That definitely changes things completely.
Yeah, it is hard to discover when it is titled as an "aura" and the instinctive reaction is to move away from it to regain your mana.

If GGG staff reads this post, PLEASE improve the visual clarity of the modifier to show better that it's a donut AoE. Maybe give it a more clear inside edge, so you can see how close in you have to get to get past the effect.

Also, if anything, you probably need to make the ring bigger so the inside of the donut has more room. On it's own it could be fine, but when the enemy has other modifiers that are problematic for melee (like dropping explosive puddles, or volatile plants), it makes the mod still a bit melee punishing, even though the intent for the mana drain mod is clearly, after discovering it's a donut, to be bad for mid and long range, since melee can dodge it by diving right into the middle.
