I do work a normie 60-hour work week job, so thank you for your patience.


I’m providing an update on all 4 Armour Piercing Rounds builds I have been playing since season 1, this weekend for S4 (Fate of the Vaal), with a full update video dropping ASAP.
All builds are S3-tested, S4-ready, and just got buffed hard.

I have just finished the campaign and am about to complete the interlude and start mapping. I am focusing on Attack Speed, Skill Speed and the new Projectile Speed nodes.
The build is going strong, and everything is getting gunned down.

1. The last 3 skill points to 60 will go into Fortifying Blood, and that will synergize with Fast Metabolism to round out our defence and health sustain to start mapping.
2. I stop using Fragmentation rounds mid-30s when I feel I have enough attack and skill speed to prevent being overwhelmed when using Armour Piercing Rounds
3. Once you have enough DPS to stop using Fragmentation rounds, use the below DMG cycle loop

⦁ Explosive Grenade on Left click, Armour Piercing Rounds on Right Click, holding down APR and click pointing with Explosive Grenade to clear packs.
It is imperative to learn how to shoot APR continuously and throw grenades at the same time, while placing your ballista!

⦁ Shoot with Armour Piercing Rounds to Break Armour and cause an Explosion to clear packs, then follow up with an Explosive Grenade for any tougher mobs and packs. This should be a fast, natural cycle with you moving around and through the packs to finish them off.

⦁ For Tougher Rares and Bosses:
1. Open with Armour Piercing Rounds to Full Break Armour
2. Swap to High Velocity Rounds to consume Full Armour break and apply Riven Armour
3. While the Monster has Riven Armour,
4. Swap back to APR, Shooting
5. Use Emergency Reload (Once you get it)
6. Dump All your Grenade Charges
7. Repeat, stay alive, avoiding mechanics
Riven Armour is a DMG debuff mechanic, and when combo'd together with Fully Armour Broken and the fast attacks of this build, you can melt huge chunks from bosses and rares.

Baseline build! Start here Use the gear in the build for an example of the gear you need/want for all 4 builds. Use a normal Armour, Life, Resist belt instead of Head Hunter or Ryslatha's Coil. Rondel of Fragility can be used when levelling for a HUGE boost, and it's cheap. Get one with the most skill speed you can afford.

The Build Video: WIP Will update ASAP This weekend

Levelling: Fast Info
1. Focus all efforts on a Physical Xbow with Attack speed and + Projectile levels
2. Basic Life, Armour/Evasion, Resist gear, mana leech.
3. Attack speed on Gloves and Sockets, and anywhere else
4. Flat Phys on Rings
5. Gem: Take the level 1 version as you access them, upgrade to the lvl 2 & 3 when you can. Use filler gems when needed, Armour Break Explosion, Mobility Speed, Fresh Clip, etc.
6. Levelling Tree passives: Use the Hunter, Pass through Rounds and the Big Crossbow nodes at the bottom of the tree to HOLD skill points until you can then respec and dump them into Run and Gun, Falcon Dive, Careful Aim, Unleash Fire or any of the far away node areas.
7. If you are having issues clearing as you level, make sure you have Pass through Rounds passive & Armour Break Explosion support.

Patch .4: Last of the Druids Updates and Changes

All build versions received huge buffs and changes. Notably, Witchhunter & Warbringer Ascendacies. More defence for WH & More Damage for both. !!Oil Grenade got a MASSIVE buff!! And the ignite changes should improve throughput for the Avatar of Fire Version

Witchhunter
Witchbane now has Enemies have Maximum Concentration equal to 30% of their Maximum Life (previously 40%). This is a buff.
Ceremonial Ablution now instead grants Sorcery Ward also protects against Physical and Chaos Damage.

Warbringer
Imploding Impacts now also grants Fully Broken Armour, you inflict increases all Damage Taken from Hits instead.
The Ancestral Warhorn minion summoned by Warbringer's Answered Call notable now more consistently hits close-up enemies with the second part of its slam attack.

⦁ Added two projectile speed clusters to the Passive Tree in the Mercenary section.

⦁ The values of Flammability Magnitude on the Passive Tree have been increased massively.

⦁ Passives that granted reduced Movement Speed Penalty from using Skills while moving on the Passive Tree have had their values lowered. More passives on the tree now grant the stat to make up for some of this.

⦁ Falcon Dive now grants 1% Attack Speed per 400 Accuracy Rating, up to 20%. The node now grants 4% increased attack speed as well. (Minor Nerf, adjustment)
⦁ Uruk's Smelting now grants Fully Breaking Armour with Supported Skills causes affected targets to Permanently take 5% increased Physical Damage, up to 20% (previously 2% up to 20%).

⦁ Ratha's Assault now Grants Supported Skills Load 5 Bolts When You Dodge (Previously 3) And Supported Skills Load 4 Additional Bolts (previously 3). Ratha's Assault now has Supported Skills have 20% Increased Attack Speed.

⦁ Armour Explosion is now supportable by cooldown supports.
⦁ Attrition is now offered as a Tier IV Spirit Gem.
⦁ Attrition: Now reserves 30 spirit (previously 60).

⦁ Oil Grenade: Cooldown is now 4 seconds (previously 5). Oil and Oil ground duration is now 6 seconds (previously 5). Now deals 193-408% of Attack Damage (previously 77-163%). Oil Ground now has Once Ignited, Oil Ground adds 150% of this Attack's Fire Damage as unscalable Damage to the Ignite. Oil now Slows enemy movement speed by 40% (previously 20%).

⦁ Corsair Coat now grants 5% increased Movement Speed instead of reduced Movement Speed Penalty from using Skills while moving. (looks like a Nerf, Minor Adjustment)

⦁ The Greater Essence of Haste now adds (14-16)% increased Attack Speed to Bows and Crossbows, this is unchanged on Melee Weapons. Existing Items will not be affected by this change.

Can you share some leveling tips for the build? Mainly with skill/support gems? Did you play armor pierce/high velocity rounds the entire time once you get them? I'm only level 10 ish and the damage feels REALLY bad with APR. Is this not SSF viable?

Have you considered scattershot on high velocity rounds for more burst when armour is broken? Scattershot makes HVR shoot 3 times instead of once.

Culling Strike is applied after damage is dealt, so wouldn't Herald of Ash not work since there is not Overkill?

Herald of Ash is working. I have tested it numerous times.
I believe the damage application is:
Decimation, HIT+Armour Break, Armour Explosion POP which OVERKILLS, extra DMG below 35% life (low life) then culling strike.

I tested this by doing maps by; justrunning Armour Explosion, just HoA, and then combined.

And some additional leveling tips.

Make sure you have Leech Life on your gloves, ring or Xbows to benefit from the Life Leech skill passives. Additionally, mana leech helps with mana sustain.
