Polcirkeln Sapphire Ring on Sorcerer

Hello,

I am playing a cold damage chronomancer and recently got a Polcirkeln Sapphire Ring i.e this one: https://poe2db.tw/us/Polcirkeln

I thought it would be a good interaction with https://poe2db.tw/us/Cold_Snap which is the skill I use as one of my main damage sources to shatter frozen enemies. I thought it would let me cast on chilled as opposed to frozen enemies but it doesn't seem to work like that and seems I have misunderstood this rings unique effect!

Can anyone explain how this ring actually works and any ideas how it could be useful for a cold damage sorcerer?

Thank you,

It's confusing because the Polcirkeln mod reads as Enemies Chilled by your Hits can be Shattered as though Frozen and the Cold Snap description states Shatters the frost on a Frozen enemy... But "shatters" here is not underlined, as you can see, which means it's just a describing word. Basically, Cold Snap checks whether the target is frozen, if yes, it removes the defuff and deals cold AoE damage (with shattering visual effect) around it. Cold Snap has no special interactions with shatter mechanic.

The ring makes chilled enemies be shattered like if they were frozen (so they don't leave corpses on death), but doesn't make them count as frozen. Cold Snap requires enemies to be frozen to deal damage.
Thanks very much for the reply, I hadn't realised that shattered in the cold snap skill isn't used the same way, that is a confusing description in that case!

In that case not really sure how useful the ring is for me unfortunately then as I mostly kill enemies that are already frozen anyway! I know some mobs can res but other than that I don't now why them not leaving a corpse is a big deal!?
