Why Trading Sucks in PoE 2 (Rework?)
|
The issues with the trading system go beyond mere authorization on external websites or bugs like the inability to search for multiple uniques or mods. Some of the key problems include:
There is no real commitment for selling an item at a certain price. • Inability to sell: This is a significant issue that affects many players. The trade is almost dead on selling. • Inability to buy: Many people experience difficulties when trying to purchase items or trade with others. There are several reasons for this, including the fact that some players are engaged in more lucrative activities and don't see the proposed trade as worthwhile. Additionally, some players may not be committed to selling, and will only respond if offered a high enough price, such as in divines for an item worth 5 exalted orbs. • Dump Stash Tabs: Some players, including myself, have "dump" stash tabs where items are listed at a fixed price without much consideration. These tabs not only clutter the trading system with fake listings but also give sellers an inflated sense of their item's value, leading them to relist it at a higher price. • Resellers and speculation: Unfortunately, some players engage in a game of "trading" within the ARPG, where they make money by scamming or driving up prices. They check what is in the meta builds, and monopolize resources required for it. They buy cheap, list expensive, and block the market. In some cases, a few dominant players can control the entire market, listing items at the same price. It's likely that some of these players are involved in real-money trading (RMT) and have years of experience scamming players out of their hard-earned currency. The game lacks mechanisms to prevent these individuals from manipulating the trade website. • Lack of reasonable trade offers: Trying to buy common items, such as white bases, can be a frustrating experience. It's impractical to visit 100 different hideouts to purchase 100 bases at 5 exalted orbs each, which is often required for crafting. And who would spend time to sell a 5ex base, when you can make 20ex per any map? • Message spam: When trying to sell or buy items, players can be bombarded with 30-50-100 messages, making it difficult to manage their trades. Even a simple mistake, like putting an item in the wrong stash tab, can trigger a spam flurry that forces players to set their status to "Do Not Disturb." • External price evaluation software: A significant game design flaw is the need to use external software to play the game effectively. This software searches the external trade website for similar listings to provide an approximate price, which is a cumbersome and unnecessary step. Last bumped on Jan 2, 2025, 1:13:59 AM

" There is a trade site. But with all the things op listed it's tedious. I don't know why ggg thinks this is acceptable for a game to be released in 2025. |

" https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2025870 This is why. The devs honestly think easy and convenient trading is of the devil and will kill the game. |

" Since the post is 7 years old, i sure hope they have rescinded that philosophy. 7 years ago it might have been good but in todays games, not a chance. 7 years in the gaming industry is like centuries. Trade like a pro brother, put an item up for sale. If you get a ton of whispers on it, ignore the people that whispered you and adjust your price higher. If you get tons of tells, ignore them again and post it higher. Repeat this process until the whispers slow. Adjust the price higher, ignoring all the whispers until they stop. Take one step back on your pricing and let it rip. Last edited by bobothewizard#1818 on Jan 1, 2025, 10:28:10 PM

With addition of automatic currency exchange, trading is perfectly fine right now.
