Freeze mechanic is a problem
|
Hi,
This post may sound like a anger-dump.. because it is. I'll try to be fair and address the problem : insta freeze and the absolute mandatory thawing charm. - Having no indication on a clear freeze buildup is problematic. - Being one shot frozen then unable to perform any action during 2-5 seconds is problematic. - Having res capped or even above 75% and still being one shot frozen with the cold damage and vulnerability that comes with it (because you're frozen, the enemies will attack you) is completely UNSUSTAINABLE. Here comes the thawing potion.. I mean charm. Usually performs once then needs to be recharged. Visually, there's no indication on the UI that shows how many charges you have or if the charges are sufficient at a required moment. So we have a couple of issues, but there's only one solution, although a temporary and minor fix for a major problem. - Not enough charm uses are granted to counter the many opportunities enemies have to freeze you. - Elemental resistance just isn't it, by experience, I can tell. Otherwise, how could we really tell it, there are no stats to figure this out. Freeze threshold doesn't explain anything about the relation of cold damage and freeze threshold, nor the numbers of freeze threshold indicates any minimal requirement depending on the difficulty of the area/enemies. - Freeze is 10x stronger than stuns, although it works as well as Electrocute ailment, my question is : why can't we get electrocuted? I believe it would be too damning to be paralyzed for 5 seconds... But let's give freeze a pass because why not right? - Thawing charms is used by literally everyone. Every streamer of PoE2 I see ; thawing charm. One slot belt with a thawing charm. Having this mechanic countered by a single item that becomes mandatory and fills the a single slot of a item type is the same has having this mechanics thrown out of the game, the item (charm) thrown out of the game as much has the item slot that could be used for other interesting charms. Let me make an analogy to simplify it. I want to cook, but everytime I cook, there's fire in my kitchen. I try to be careful ; make a safe setup, use safe equipment but there is still always fire. Notably, there's is no way to prevent the fire, only to react accordingly. My best way is to keep an extinguisher by my side, always. I will be able to take out the fire every time, but I'm not sure when my device will go out of fluids. Turns out, one day, my extinguisher goes out, fire grows, and the damage is irreversible. Welcome to endgame, where dying in an Uber map becomes a costly mistake. Where all the tools available are not enough to prevent the fire, and ultimately becomes, a waste of time.
