Sunder is broken/OP. It enables Volcanic Fissure like no other skill. (Mace skills)
I believe that, currently, Sunder functions similar to how Rain of Arrows was before it was nerfed. Each sunder segment can hit separately. This makes sunder do ridiculous amount of damage to big body bosses e.g. Tor Gul the Defiler. Try it out!
Sunder + Upheaval spawns two additional sunders and shotguns. This isn't so bad on its own. However, the most broken combo I have found is that every Sunder segment can activate a volcanic fissure aftershock. This can guarantee that all sunder segments hit by proxy (each proc of volcanic fissure counts as one hit, so you can hit 15 times with the fissure in one cast of Sunder, assuming all sunder segments connect via the fissure network and the enemy is standing underneath a volcanic fissure) This is even more ridiculous with aftershocks from supports/skill tree. The damage is lower than some of the other broken builds I have seen but it gives really easy Heavy stuns due to the sheer amount of hits on the boss. By the way, fissures snapshot. Build example for people wanting to try this degenerate strat and (spoilers) boss fight test cases:
Spoiler
I made a titan on SSF with this in mind and this has lead to pretty degenerate gameplay such as weapon swapping to dual-wield two handers with a [skill effect duration/less attack speed more damage] skill tree. I can set up fissures before the boss spawns in to maximize coverage on the floor and as long as the boss is standing on at least one fissure in the web, I can spam sunder on my [Shield/attack speed] tree and weapon set and the boss will just melt.
The best way to scale damage is increasing fissures/second. Slap on aftershock support, tremors, conc effect if you have high AoE to condense the coverage to the range of the fissures. Fissures can be supported by whatever you want, so long as it increases damage and 40% more skill effect duration for long boss fights (i.e. Olroth who likes to skate around the arena and forces you to dodge a lot). I have killed Zarokh a few times skipping both hourglass phases on a ~600 pDPS weapon (no attack speed, set up fissures before hand and switch to a faster weapon + shield to spam sunder.) I did this by damaging him to slightly above half to trigger the spinning lightning phase but not the hourglass phase, then I went to the corner and spammed sunder towards him. He was sitting on an infernal cry snapshotted fissure and promptly got heavy stunned and died. Last bumped on Dec 31, 2024, 5:08:19 PM
