Weapon disappeared 2 days in a row

Hello, I was playing on my xbox elite controller yesterday. I was using a staff, and picked up another staff off the ground after defeating a miniboss.

I opened my inventory and hit X by mistake which switches my weapon on my character. When I did this, my weapon vanished along with the gems. I was not at a vendor (I was on the field, not in "town") and the weapon was not on the ground, and not in my inventory.

When asking in chat a user suggested I try using my alternate weapon but there is none to switch to. I tried this on the keyboard and mouse and no dice as well, there is no alternative weapon set.

I did notice when I'm on the controller and hover over inventory - I see a red exlamation mark but the game does not explain what it means, and google hasn't helped either. I'm wondering if that might explain it somehow.

This actually just happened today too and I'm at a loss. I spent a lot of my resources to find a replacement staff and now both awesome staffs are gone - does anyone know a way around this or is there a way I can contact the devs to see if the staff can be retrieved?

Same situation. Opened inventory and swapped in a different weapon using square, My crafted weapon disappeared. Not in other set, not in inventory. Deleted. On ps5 pro, saved gameplay video showing the tragic loss. I was in an atlas map at the time.

Just happened to me with my end game sceptre im so pissed off right now I feel like quitting, no backup

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you guys, were you both on controllers? It hasn't happened to me for a long time, one thing that may have helped is I equipped a 2nd weapon slot.

That didn't bring my old weapons back but I'm thinking what's happening is the game is "thinking" that it sent it to the other slot.

I've also been really careful not to mess around with weapons in my inventory while I'm in the field.

I hope the devs are aware of the situation.

One other bug I found is I can't teleport to trials sometimes if I'm on my xbox controller. IMO these are issues tied to the controller somehow is my theory.
