Plaguefinger unique effect does not work

Plaguefinger Gauze Wraps say that all hit damage should convert to poison damage but neither the spell description or actual damage on enemies represent it.
I use chaos bolt with poison support gems.

Chaos and Physical damage contribute to posion magnitude by default, Plaguefinger allows elemental damage to contribute as well.

So if you also use Chaos Bolt like OP, the gloves basically do nothing*, except provide some chance to poison. Which you want to have if you're planning to inflict poisons.

*given that you don't have sources of gain as extra elemental damage like Archmage.
