Energy Shield Shatter and Evasion Truncation

Since Armour Break is so wildly successful at shredding the armour of players I think its only fair that other defenses get similar treatment!

Energy Shield Shatter should remove % amounts of Energy Shield based off the relative amount of health the energy shield is hiding. Essentially while using chaos inoculation players should be instantly stripped of their energy shield. There should be one mechanic to remove every type of defense instantly.

Furthermore,

Evasion Truncation should be applied whenever the player would be slowed, and the equivalent amount of evasion should be removed, regardless of whether or not they are slow immune and additively scaled by a factor of 2, from the character. (20% slow = 40% evasion loss, 2 20% slows = 80% loss).

This way we can all get wrecked equally!

No one should worry about being left behind when it comes to forcibly having their maps bricked! We should all lose progression and skill point investment arbitrarily but equally.

This is a joke. But so is Armour.

Thought id throw my sarcastic, but semi serious 2 cents in. I dont care if i lose my armour, just make other people randomly lose their defenses too, if its telegraphed and a solid skill and knowledge check, bring it on.

Investing in -Slowing Magnitude should be a means counteract the evasion loss. Pathfinders' only have their Speed unaffected by slows, so they would still become more vulnerable from slowing debuffs. Armor-break does seem a bit harsh on the builds its meant to impede but, to be fair, Armor insulates itself from the effect no?

Armor reduces physical damage. IIRC Physical sources are what determine the magnitude of armor break. Stacking more armor also forces enemies to break that much more before its entirely broken. Perhaps a good remedy would be further reducing/nullifying any Armor-Break from Blocked Hits.

Why give players an entire defensive option.... that actually just becomes a liability that doesn't work. Ignoring that armour at the moment cant scale to a value where it is effective in the first place, even if you had it. Its INSTANTLY stripped for 12s periods by monsters with 0 warning.

Also why should evasion get a means by which to counter any of these mechanics? you dont get the point, like armour break they are supposed to irrevocably f*ck the player. Allowing them to counteract that... even though that is the point of the defensive mechanics in the first place, would defeat the goal of ensuring that the player dies.

I disagree. I think its just poorly implemented. "Accurate" mobs exist and they'll screw over dodge builds that are dumb enough to try face-tanking'em. All AoE damage ignores evasion without investing in a Keystone. I do think your Evasion Loss From Slows is a decent idea for keeping otherwise "Slow-Immune" builds on their toes. It also has its counterplay with -Slowing Magnitude. I think Armor Break just needs a complimentary stat that can mitigate its effects. Blocks is first and simplest one that comes to mind.

Okay. I think brainstorming solutions besides DELETETHIS would be more helpful.
I completely disagree in this case. This game is attempting to symplify PoE as a whole, the entirety of its design is taken in a direction that makes PoE mechanics easier to understand.

The issue with armour at the moment is given how low base player HP is there is no point in getting 40%-60% damage reduction. (when you can quadruple your HP pool with ES + EV) (And 40-60% consistently isnt even possible with armour at the moment either, which is even more evidence that its crap)

ES combos with EV much more then armour due to recharge mechanics. Also accurate monsters dont totally ignore your EV, and again EV still applies to other monsters that arent accurate. Armour break makes everything hurt you more.

Armour on combos with nothing, Life Regen sucks, Life pools are tiny, AND ARMOUR CAN BE BROKEN. EV when facing an accurate monster is still effective, Armour when facing armour break is... oh thats right fucking gone. FOR 12 SECONDS.

Geee. I wonder, would I rather have 1 mob on my screen with a higher chance of hitting me? Or every mob on the screen hits me 2-4x harder for 12 seconds? Difficult choice.

Armours implementation as a mechanic is already punishing with reduced effectiveness agaisnt big hits + lower base scaling in PoE2. It doesnt need more mechanics making it worse.

DELETE THIS is the proper response, armour has its weakness baked in, the equation that governs how much it mitigates.

Mechanics that have mandatory secondary investment to function (to counter a mechanic), are bad mechanics. Implementing nodes on the tree, or modifiers on equipment for countering armour break just. make. armour. worse. now not only do i have to deal with armour break, to use armour, I lose X passives on the tree, or X modifiers on my gear. Armour already sucks for the luandry list of reasons above, bad comboing with ES, protecting a generally smaller total life pool, which is restored slower. There is no reason for armour break to exist when armour already is a steaming pile of trash. Armour break on players adds nothing to the game other then making everyone just invest in ES and more or less ignore character types on the bottom half of the tree.

We did this crap with reflect damage. If we add anti armour break nodes to the passive tree, all we did is penalize melee by X skill points. Just make my characters have X less skill points if I have a pure armour chest on and remove armour break from the game please and thank you. Screw being forced to travel to a specific part of the tree everytime I want to make a armour build work.
