POE’S Monetization feels bad.
This is the feedback forum, not Reddit. This is an opinion shared in that spirit, please keep that in mind.
Specifically the appearance customization. Are there any plans to add any kind of an armor transmog system? Is it in there and I missed it? I would MUCH rather pay full freight for the game and be able to earn appearance customization in game with progress vs. the absolutely awful MTX system currently in place. $45 for a single armor set is downright despicable. I prefer PoE2 to D4 by a long shot, but this is one area D4 absolutely WIPES THE FLOOR with PoE2. I hope the devs do more to allow cool appearance options without spending literally hundreds of fucking dollars. Fashion should be the true final endgame of every live service game, and in PoE it’s just credit card swiping. Understand that the game is monetized fundamentally differently than D4, so this may never be in the cards. But this is the feedback forum, and my feedback is: that fucking stinks. Yes there are transmog options in PoE1. Not yet available in PoE2. It is way less a priority this early in development.
Diablo 4 is a pay to play game. Ofcourse that game should have a million more "free" options to change appearance(no you are not getting them for free since you are paying for the game). Heck you will even have to pay for expansions and they charge heavily for most mtx outside the transmogs. Path of exile on the other side relies on the income from people paying for mtx. In fact that is their only way of income. You are getting a full fledged game for free with free expansions/leagues with unlimited play time. How is this bad monetization? PoE 1 has onetime skin transfers for $5 which is about the cheapest option. Sadly it's not available in PoE 2 yet.

This is a company that is (for free, without charge) converting all PoE1 MTX & stash tabs to PoE2 for free.
Wait till 1.0. You might be pleasently surprised. Pro-tip: you don't need the $45 MTX armor, that's a way to support the Free-to-Play version if you want to. Same whay when you see a forum poster with a load of badges, these just mean they bought "supporters packs" for various leagues. The bronze kiwi is because I was very very poor in 2012 ;) Last edited by Nameless_One#4282 on Dec 25, 2024, 1:47:35 PM
