Melee in this game feels worse than any ARPG i have ever played (85 Monk)

It is really, really bad. On an 85 monk with a maxroll endgame build with decent gear. Extremely clunky and wont even attack the target half the time. Dont even get me started when you drop the bell and try to hit that. Maybe its just me but it just feels awful. Feels like a core issue with melee which i dont even know how they are going to address it.

Nothing more frustrating when you are fighting a mob and you just stop attacking. Literally just stands there then you get 1 shot and we know how much everyone loves that in this game.

No its not MS or PC issues. Its a core game mechanic issue.

Anyone else feel this way?

Try checking guides online, monk is absolutely nutted class, it explodes half of the screen with every hit freezing everything. You are clearly playing it wrong.

But other thing why you may feel sluggish, is the server condition, I have the same on ranged, very rarely the game feels smooth and responsive, most often it feels delayed, slow, and struggling to work. GGG need better quality servers.
i really enjoyed playing my monk, didnt feel clunky at all, charged staff generally removes issues with hitting bell
The autotargetting system for WASD does need to be optional, I agree.

Elsewise, monk seems fine. Maces need a bit of a balance pass I think to make them either a bit faster, or to make them have a wider impact (if I can delete a pack with Charged Staff temptest flurry, I feel like a rolling slam should clear the entire pack as well).

I've been enjoying it more than my Bladedancer in Last Epoch (which was satisfying, but the game was way too easy) or my limited stint as a Rogue in D4s act 1 early access demo (again, easy, and that one felt like I needed to wait until level 15 to get enough of a kit together for it to be satisfying with combo points being unlocked).
