Gold no longer requires you to play the game to obtain.
The whole point of the currency exchange requiring gold was to deter bots. This was true in PoE but no longer the case in PoE2. Bots can now buy cheap rare off the trade side and sell them to the vendor for gold.
This becomes pretty problematic because bots can make huge amounts of currency off of market inefficiencies (like some have already done with 3 to 1 upgrades). This leads to more issues with RMT, removes opportunities for actual players and also gives bots the ability to actually manipulate markets (crashing a certain commodity for example). This probably needs to be addressed before launch else it's inevitable that the currency exchange becomes flooded with bots. Last bumped on Dec 25, 2024, 1:29:39 AM
