Everything about PoE2's Endgame is a substantial and comical downgrade compared to PoE1.

There is so much to get into on this issue.

Lack of any meaningful atlas passives, atlas tree is miniscule and may as well not even exist, map variety, map layouts, no bosses, towers (???), the weird sextant system with towers and tablets, no checkpoints in maps, the maps are way too big, the terrain generator is awful and there is too much shit in the way constantly.

Strongboxes are a complete joke.
Essences are way too weak and don't spawn nearly often enough.
Delirium sucks.
Breach is ok but the nerf to it really sucks, it's still miles ahead and far and above anything else.
Expedition is awful and completely useless in every regard.

I could go on and on, and I will.

I know its early access, but if you pulled "all hands on deck" and stopped them from working on the campaign to focus on end game and THIS is what you have, perhaps this game simply was not ready for early access..

was not ready for early access

It was not ready for any kind of access, Early or otherwise.
It’s early access. They are going to take player feedback and improve upon everything by the time the game is ready for release. Patience.
Agreed.

No idea why they released the game in this state.

Basicaly only the art and sound design are in good shape. Everything about balance, content, level design, mechanics, drops, skill tree, atlas are so unpolished and unfinished that i cant imagine why they released EA now.

It was released into early access to allow us to have feedback both positive and negative. After the Christmas season there will be an update based on the feedback they get. I am expecting significant changes to the endgame to be announced mid January based on the player feedback already given.

The game was ready. It's stable, it plays well, it looks good and parts of it are quite fun.

The problem is that there's too much "vision" in it, with really bad decisions made towards things that GGG should already know from PoE1 that players hated.

The crafting system is a joke, and for all of the agency players have in the process, it may as well be scrapped altogether. This is no more satisfying than just sifting through rares on the ground.

The ascendancy trials are awful, and it's comical that they took two of the most polarizing (and avoided) mechanics from PoE1 and made them core progression requirements. Wtf.

Finally, in slowing players and gameplay down (which I think was good), they forgot to remove all of the miserable garbage mechanics that were no longer required to curb PoE1 zooming. Lightning mirages, volatiles, on-death effects etc are all rubbish gameplay, and they are no longer needed as difficulty-crutches in this game.

What's even more hilarious is that the 3rd trial which is coming is rumored to be based off Trial of the Ancestors loooool

Also yeah I have no idea why PoE 2 has the biggest identity crisis ever. It advertised itself as "slower, more meaningful gameplay and bosses" yet all the archnemesis bs and on-death effects practically spammed in maps encourages everyone to just do even more zoom glass-cannon builds than in PoE 1. Like it just does not make sense at all.

Yeeah if the game was ready they wouldn't have to add in a temporary Cruel difficulty that repeats acts 1-3, nor would they have had to rush in the last 6 months to design this uhh.. "endgame". Not to mention all the pc freezing problems people are having(I know its because of win11 update, but its also on the high priority list of current problems in the bugfixes sticky post sooo I dunno. Maybe GGG can fix it if its actually something to do with how the game itself handles Engine Multithreading). On top of lots of other bugs, textures randomly flickering in town and so on. Like you can literally dodge roll out of bounds in some towns if you roll in the right spots lmao

Yes yes its "early access" but nobody forced GGG to rush it out right before christmas when they weren't even done with the whole campaign yet. It's completely on them that they promised a "2024 release" and had to do this instead.

I mean, they just made minimum 30 million dollars from this EA release so that is a big reason why.
