Experiencing PC FREEZES? Here's a potential fix.
Hello everyone,
After some testing and analysis, I found that the issue of crashes in this game is not related to the operating system or its version. From what I’ve observed, this issue seems to be more common with newer generation processors, as the game crashes when the CPU is unable to handle a 100% load. I have two other PCs: one with an i7 8700k desktop and another with a 10750H laptop. Both systems run Windows 11 24H2, and even with the CPU reaching 100% during map changes, the game doesn’t crash. I started to wonder if something in newer processors was conflicting with the game, potentially due to an additional feature causing excessive CPU load. After entering the BIOS and Disabling the Asus Performance Enhancement and Precision Boost Overdrive options, I tested the game again, repeatedly switching maps under full load. To my surprise, the game did not crash anymore. So, it appears these features were causing the issue, at least in my case. I would love to hear from others who have faced similar issues. Please share your system specifications below to help pinpoint the cause. Report : CPU : AMD Ryzen 7600 Motherboard : Asus Turbo Game Mode : Disabled Asus Performance Enhancement : Disabled Precision Boost Overdrive : Disabled Any Overclocking features : Only AMD EXPO Mode Enabled Still an issue : No Looking forward to hearing from others who have faced this issue! If everyone provides their information like this, it will help to pinpoint the specific feature causing the problem and aid game developers in fixing it. Thank you. It seems PoE 2 doesn't support AMD CPU/GPU that well, my gig constantly get completely frozen after gaming for about 5 - 10 mins while both CPU/GPU temp at 40/60 respectively, need hard reset. Meanwhile my fr gigs are running Intel CPU/GPU and they are completely fine. The game literally unplayable for me atm.

" I'm seeing Kernel-Power error #41 during some POE2 system crashes (not all though), which relates to CPU failing due to power shortage when the game goes to load into zones and causes high CPU workload. A high overclock, a low undervolt, or a bad PSU can cause that error. (most commonly anyway) I have no thermal or TJmaxx throttle or shutdowns during POE2 according to my monitoring logs. It simply instability on my end caused by the game. But if you're clearing GPU and CPU stress and benchmarking tests with your current settings, like 3Dmark tests or OCCT tests, and all your other games are running fine, then POE2 is simply not properly utilizing CPUs. GGG needs to change the game code to reduce CPU workload during load scenarios. It shouldn't be allowed to just brute-force your hardware without some sort of fail-safe limitations. I've had a total of ~10 of these complete freezes requiring a hard reboot, including just now. This is actually pretty difficult to do in Windows but here we are.
The only commonality I've noticed is that it only happens after I have significant session time >4hrs without a game restart. Interestingly, earlier today I had a scare which looked like it was going to freeze, but snapped out of it as I spammed CTRL-SHFT-ESC trying to get task manager up to see if there might be a memory leak. When it recovered, PoE2 was only taking up about 4.5gb of memory so not anything indicating a memory leak. I built this PC in April and haven't had a single crash until PoE2's release. It's definitely not anything on any end-users PC. NOTE: If you DISABLE PBO completely, your CPU won't boost beyond base clock.
You'll likely see lower FPS and choppier performance across your system. Might be better to reduce the PBO limits instead of disabling completely. Windows 11 24H2 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD

Tried, not working for me.

I cannot disable PBO on 7800x3d, but I tried doing negative 850 boost few days ago, thought it helped, but no. All these random solutions might work for like 1 session, until it doesn't. You revert few things back or randomly it starts working for a while. Maybe depending on the map / items you have on you or your inventory.
