Searing Flame support gem: Bad? Never use?

Is "Searing Flame" support gem EVER useful?

This gem states that skills deal 25% less with hits in order to do 75% more magnitude of ignite inflicted with that same skill...

Basically, looking at the skill damage window, I have never seen this trade off to actually be worth the damage lost. Even with "Perfect Strike" the damage loss is enormous.

Has anyone ever found a good use for this support gem, please?

For Hellhound, if you scale ignite aura, it's really good.

You can put on it stuff like Fire Exposure, Meat Shield (50% more ignite aura damage), Fiery Death (explosions), Increased AoE and whatever else you need.
