My 48 hr LA Deadeye experience

Hello Exiles,

Happy holidays. Here in no particular order are my gripes about POE2.

1. Movement and action speed are bad

a. Dodge roll's ending animation is bad. I often get trapped and unable to use any skills. It's even worse considering the smaller boss arenas, large AOE attacks, and map terrain/objects which do a very good job of inconveniencing your own job as the hero/heroine. This doesn't factor into the game's difficulty imo. I often find myself kiting more than dealing damage.

b. Backpedaling makes me vomit! Especially as a ranged scout class, which should never be backpedaling. It's inefficient movement and visually displeasing.

c. Opening a town portal should be an instant cast. The animation is unnecessarily slow. You're not performing a ritual to summon satan.

2. Loot/Items

a. Chests. I don't even bother opening them when you get mostly gold or nothing.

b. Treasure rooms. Similar to how I feel about chests. Don't bother.

c. Runes are neat and can be useful.

d. Jewels are meh, could be better.

3. Skills

a. Most Ranger skills are just bad. It's strange that the concept of shooting your arrow and having it hit a target can be so drawn out. It's just slow and inefficient. Players will just gravitate towards what actually works and isn't so punishing for no reason.

-Tornado shot. It's a waste of time trying to shoot your projectiles into a swirl unless you're fighting zombies. Most enemies will just rush/push you.

-Rain of arrows. Feels like casting blizzard (D2) but with a bow. Again, only zombies will stay in the volley.

-Escape Shot and Electrocuting Arrow's animations take way to long and often results in you getting trapped and killed.

-Snipe and Detonating Arrow don't fit into this slow paced game. You're already starving for action speed as is; now you're a sitting duck.

-Shockchain arrow............................. just use Lightning arrow

b. Support gems. Only one in use at a time promotes one-dimensional builds and accelerates stale gameplay.

4. Life vs ES

a. Really? We're back here again? We already went through this in POE1. 5k ES vs 1-2k Life?.... nuff said.

5. Passive Tree

a. What new players may be intimidated by, experienced ARPG players will be like, WHY?!! With the removal of life and res, POE2 passive tree is MID at best.

6. Zone resets after death

a. It's frustrating that I can't even avenge myself.

7. Campaign

a. I never paid much attention to the storyline in games. I get right into the meat and potatoes. It's mildly cringy imo.

8. Overall thoughts

a. 7/10 for an early access game
