Getting one shot will never ever be fun.
Just this. It is never fun to get one shot especially when you dont know why it happened.
If any point of your game it is impossible to get gear to avoid being one shot I will not be playing it. I only say this because I have been told that in poe1 you couldn't survive end game and had to play evasion. Bad game design. Last bumped on Jan 5, 2025, 9:34:44 AM

There were one shots in poe1 too.. it was somewhat known for it.
I didn't enjoy it there, but I felt like they were easy enough to avoid. I really don't like it in poe2. I fail to see what it actually adds to the game, they are so incredibly difficult to see coming and avoid in this game too. It's either a boss with invisible AoE, or a silly 'chaos ball' or a random projectile and combination of mods.. it's just too much. More quant in maps please

One Shots are just bad.
It gets to a point where you either have a super meta build to kill bosses quickly or you have to play like a top tier player (such as no hit run Dark Souls players) just to beat it. I feel it's made worse in PoE2 as the EndGame later punishes you from dying. That's fine, but make dying purely the error of the player if you are going to punish them. Granted I feel it just needs to be less punishing regardless as there are few bosses I've died to at least once. |

" No, they really weren't. PoE 1 was often worse with the screen clutter so you simply couldn't see the one-shots coming. |

It's blowing my mind that this had FOUR posts by FOUR different people over TWO WEEKS on this crazy forum and somehow found it's way back to the top.
This post is the chosen one. |

One Shots in Boss Fights? Yes, I'm for it. If it's good telegraphed and the game gives me a good chance to dodge it, without being specialized for it, it's a skill check and an opportunity to learn
One Shots in croded fights against trash mobs? Absolutely not okay. There's no way to see every little detail that's going on. Ground-AoE-Effects, on top of that dozens of mobs and skill effects (from you and monsters alike), hundrerds of projectiles and some monsters have deadly mods on them which I have to read first (no time for that). And lets not forget all the revenge-on-death-mechanics. If you want to slow the game down, the above examples shows, that we need less mobs, less projectiles, less spells, less on-death effects. If everything is absolutely clear for the player, only then one-shots could be a thing. But right now? This fast-paced gameplay combined with one-shot mechanics outside of boss-fights favours fast-as-lightning-zoom-mega-clear-speed builds, so that enemies don't even have a chance to do anything at all. And my guess is, that PoE2 isn't supposed to be that kind of game. " No, not really. After 1-2 days, there is a "bump" button below your avatar if you're the OP. So you can bump the thread without posting something. I guess OP did exactly that. Last edited by AceNightfire#0980 on Jan 5, 2025, 7:14:01 AM

I confirm bug one shot issue.
How is possible with full life and shield to be kill by one monster/minion (I do not mention boss) !!!! Please do not doing things like in Diablo 4! |

What is even worse is being one shot killed by something off-screen you can't even see.

Agreed, one shots are only accetable on long telegraphed attacks you can anticipate and react to. Everything else is just really bad game design. That is not how you make a game "challenging", there is no challenge in a battle between a hidden sniper and an unsuspecting civilian.
I mean games like Dark Souls are considered hard and are still beloved by a lot of people because it is in 9/10 cases the players fault when he dies and that + the inifinite chances to retry an hard encounter is what makes the challenges fun to overcome. In PoE2 right now most deaths are just random stuff you have no chance to react too + you lose everything without any chance to retry/recover from the death.
