question about spark . . . and other skills too

just kind of some oddball questions.

i am still just at the point where some of my characters are finishing act i, so i am not super advanced or anything. but what i have noticed is that it seems various mobs might have super resistance to various forms of damage.

for my spark skill on my sorcerer i have been using envenom and bleed - i do this so the spark has 3 kinds of damage. is this a super bad choice? i am afraid of piling on tons of lightning damage and then running into mobs that are alomst immune to lightning.

and is this idea useful for other skills? like if i have a fire based skill should i add lightning support to it? etc etc

thanks for any ideas.

This game didn't really feel like it supports multiple damage types very well, so I think overall that's not the best plan. Instead you'll want to look into ways to do elemental penetrative, inflict elemental exposure, and curse monsters to reduce their resistance. With those tools you won't really run into monsters that are immune to you. Some may take a little bit longer to kill but you won't have strict immunity problems.

Some of those things aren't available until a little bit later in the campaign, but you shouldn't have many issues before then.

For spark I recommend a acceleration and the increased skill effect duration as the early supports, it makes the skill feel a lot better to me.

You can also utilize flame wall to add some damage of a different type that synergies better than what you're currently trying. :)
You can hold alt to read more about bleed and poison when they're underlined in gem descriptions. In general, only physical damage contributes to the magnitude of bleed and only physical and chaos damage contributes to the magnitude of poison, so they do nothing for spark because it's all lightning damage. One exception is if you are a blood mage, which allows all elemental damage to contribute to bleed, not just physical.

You should be thinking about what you can get on the passive tree to support your damage, as well. Poison is kind of underwhelming until you get a lot of duration, magnitude, and max stacks from the passive tree. For lightning, you should be able to find penetration, exposure, and shock-related passives.
thanks for the info all!
