To the devs: Have you ever played a coop game?

I've played the game together with my wife on PS5 couch coop.

Besides the totally obvious issues with P2 not being able to access tons of screens (like the map and workbench), we still managed to enjoy ourselves until we hit end game yesterday.

Now, if one of us dies on a map, we can't revive and the other player has to play on on their own?

I'm sorry... How is this fun for coop? The fun in playing a game coop, is that you are playing the game together. One person sitting on the couch playing and one person sitting on the couch watching isn't couch coop. It's a single player game.
This seriously makes me wonder if you have ever played a coop game in your life...

I hope you have some end game activities planned for people to enjoy together, because as it is right now, we can't enjoy anything end game.

Just let people rez in group... it's almost impossible to rez someone anyways while you are in a fight, so it's not like it's going to trivialize the content.

In it's current state, there is no enjoyable coop end game, and the game pretty much ends when you finish the campaign.

being able to rez your ally in a map would completely negate the 1 portal reasoning. What is stopping someone from clearing the start of a map and leaving a "couch co op" alt afk at the portal then just rez as needed. This would be abused to an insane degree.

the fun part is using 2 characters strengths to dominate the game, not using each other as revive bots. I do believe diablo 4 allows you rez your ally indefinitely. might be worth trying.
Step 1 is to self reflect.
Co-op is a feature but not the main draw of the game, also no they never have... So good job making yourself out to be completely clueless...
It is the main draw of the game for people that play couch coop, as they would have never played it if it was single player only.

And how does it harm you if they ADD end game activities that people can enjoy coop?
I do agree with you, the end game just feels miserable to play in coop.

I just finished the campaign with my friend on PC and there is no fun to have in the Atlas.
If one of us die, the other just has to wait while the other try to clear the map on his own. And even if your friend succeed, you do not gain any progress on your map so you have to restart it with a waystone.

It just feels like a waste of time since you can't progress, having to restart everything every time.
I can't even recall the number of time i died being one shot by something totally random with no feedback.
And you can't get stronger since the loot is awful and seems to push you toward their trading system.

I understand what they wanted to do with that but it's just too punishing and unfun for what it bring to the game, especially when you're just on a basic node.
You could at least have checkpoints scattered in the map that would allow you to rez your teammates and it would help already.

I feel like the people that would actually do that would represent less than 5% of the player base and could be easily countered by having a set number of rez per person.
I partially agree with OP - but only partial. I think unlimited revives are defeating the purpose of the high risk, high reward style of endgame.

Maybe a one-time revive budget would be okay while adding modifiers on the waystones like "no revives allowed but x% increase in gold/rarity...". What do you think?
For sure unlimited would be too much but having at least something would help on that regard for the core of the end-game (not talking about the citadel bosses).
Literally posting this message while waiting for my friend to clear the map since i died and can't do nothing else...
And as you said, they could easily add some new modifiers to play with that.
They just need to remove the 1 death per map BS and let us re-enter until you run out of portals. Same as we have in PoE1.

That'll fix most problems we have right now. Your co-op partner being forced to wait for you to die/complete the map, the cheap on death effects (no GGG, that's not difficulty) and it'll make the game more accessible. Then all they gotta do is nerf all the 1-shot builds and buff bosses so there's actually a risk of losing all 6 portals.
Why would they changed something like that if they had it in PoE 1 ...
There should be revives, but not infinite revives. The 1 map try model is lame, especially with the horrendous 1 shot mechanics of white mobs. POE1 has too many map attempts, but POE2 has too few. There needs to be a happy medium.
