Fragmentation Rounds + Polcirkeln Sapphire Ring

The ring description is: Enemies Chilled by your Hits can be Shattered as though Frozen.

Fragmentation Rounds causes an explosion when consume freeze.

What happened is the enemies were killed as shattereds but the explosion didn't occur.

Is that the right interaction?

In my opinion it should've caused the explosion, cause the enemies were killed as they were frozen, so the freeze status should've been consumed before the death.

Thoughts?

I was so thrilled to loot this ring with my mercenary, but from what I read from your post and what I saw in game, it seems to NOT work exactly as we hoped.

I also thought that the fragmentation round "versus frozen" effect (explosion AND overdamage) would trigger on "just chilled" targets, but they seems to get the non freeze version.

In my opinion, this is because fragmentation round does NOT shatter ! It consumes frozen.


BUT ! you can still use the ring with the ice-herald for a pretty explosive clean up combo, from what I tried.

You just need to find a way to freeze some targets and the effect of frag-round on frozen + ice herald + Polcirkeln will shatter the rest of the pack. (as it does with warrior builds that slams packs)


Still, would be nice to have a official answer (or anyone that knows better) on the subject to either see if this the understanding is correct or if the behaviour is not intended that way and need fix.

This sounds like the intended effect.

If it worked the way you had hoped, it would have said something like "Chilled Enemies are treated as frozen." With the way it's currently worded, only the shatter effect will treat chilled enemies as frozen, and your explosion is not "shatter".


Seems like it would be a cool way to update the ring to make it more versatile, but maybe there's some broken interaction they're trying to avoid with the current wording.

To be honest, this is already pretty nasty as it is with the ice herald combo.
Would have been too overpowered if triggered fraground effect directly from chilled.
