Waypoints in maps idea?
|
Since some of the maps are so large, there are times when the last few rare monsters for completion will be back at the start area or in other corners.
Thoughts on adding random waypoints that can be discovered throughout a map? As we progress through a map it would allow us to travel back to different points in the map to clean up the remaining monsters. Of course these have to be walked by/discovered first and only usable for that one map run. Last bumped on Dec 21, 2024, 12:24:02 AM

I see the hate of the maps being too big. I just don't see it. I don't mind backtracking a tiny bit. Unless you have zoomer brain rot this shouldn't be that big of a deal.

![]() Last rare monsters were on the star and the final one is back near the start. You can also search multiple other examples of this if you need to see what is going on. This backtracking happening over multiple instances adds up quickly. This does not respect the players time in the current state which equates to unfavorable game design. This is some of the reasoning behind a large dislike from players on map layouts. Going back through cleared areas offers little to nothing outside of being a walking simulator just to get a completed atlas node to move on. Adding procedural waypoints that spawn throughout a map a player can find to use could be a temp fix until a better solution is implemented. There would need to be some factors to consider like removing shrine buffs when using the waypoint for example, so you can not stack all the buffs, then blink to a point near the map boss all powered up. Waypoints would reset with each map run. |
