Ascendancy trials overtuned, mana starvation etc.
PoE 2 is a really solid base and I understand it is in early access. So do not take this as all negative feedback because the game has some very good parts as well.
The ascendancy is way overtuned for some classes. Especially the temple of chaos when you get to the actual boss. At level 40 most combinations of trials makes the boss almost impossible with some classes. Surely this cannot have been tested by GGG and you just reroll until you get a good boss with the right combinations, tedious. Mana starvation with other characters than witch/sorc makes the game just not fun. Running circles around bosses until you have enough mana to shoot some arrows just isnt fun when your mana flask have depleted. The maps are way to big in acts and getting to end-game is becoming more of a chore than in PoE 1 and the game is new which is worrying. I feel this will be a problem for alt characters later on in leagues since Im struggling to put my second or third character into maps already. If the loot is this scarce and you have to rely on getting lucky in crafting then you have to up the drops of currency even more. Especially exalted and regals. Unique items does not feel great at the moment even though you said they were going to be more or less build defining. I have not seen the end game ones but the 15 uniques or so I have dropped getting to maps just feels meh and goes right in the stash tab. The game requires you to more or less have 100% attention all the time to not die to random white mobs. I love the challenge as of right now but this worries me a lot. I love having a stream or a movie on the other monitor while playing an ARPG and it just isnt possible at all with PoE2. I feel like this constant attention requirement will decrease the longevity of the game. PoE 1 was incredible to play after a days of work or late nights when you are tired. This does not work with PoE 2. I feel that bosses and events should require 100% player attention but there must be some parts that allows you to relax a bit. I feel like this will cause many players to just simply go back to PoE 1 so you can watch your favourite streamer or whatever at the same time as playing. Why, why, why did you bring corpse explosions and on death effects into PoE2? I feel like a majority of players have time and time again explicitly explained that it just isnt fun and feels most of the time unfair due to lack of visibility or due to lagg often caused by performance issues or server issues. I am more or less flabbergasted that you brought these mechanics into PoE2 and Im playing softcore for that matter. Last bumped on Dec 19, 2024, 5:52:32 PM
