Acolyte of Chayula
|
I've been having a lot of fun with PoE2 difficulty and all.
However, I'm kind of underwhelmed by the Chayula Monk. I was hoping to get an Ascendency that would drastically shift my class away from Elemental Damage (opposite of Invoker Monk) into a Chaos Damage driven machine but the Chaos damage given to me by the Ascendency is 100% luck based. Reality rending procs off pure luck: 23% for 25% extra damage as Chaos 13% for 50% extra damage as Chaos 7% for 100% extra damage as Chaos So the majority of the time you deal no extra Chaos damage. Which is sadge. Into the Breach requires you to pick up a Purple Flame to get 7% extra damage as Chaos. Sure it stacks, but the more flames you pick up, the less of them spawn. You also need to put yourself in precarious positions in order to grab the coloured flame you want making the bonus highly inconsistent. Into the Breach is probably the most impactful Ascendency in that tree and still feels kind of meh. Having to run around picking up HP and Mana globes that don't give you a leech buff as I had anticipated but rather just heal you for the set amount (BUT can be affected by extra leech which is neat). Embrace the Darkness is probably the weakest of the passives since it removes your spirit which kills some of your defensive layers via spirit gems to give you an extra layer of (what is essentially) another Energy Shield. All in all, Invoker Monk seems to have much better passives over all. Allowing for a better playstyle IMO. While Chayula just feels like a whole lot of nothing. I'm 100% open to be told to #gitgud and be shown how to play this Ascendency properly but, so far, I think it needs a little more love from GGG. Last bumped on Dec 19, 2024, 8:02:35 AM

+1
As Early Access launched, I was heavily leaning towards Acolyte of Chayula, but after seeing only 2 underwhelming chaos skills for Quarterstaves, I ended up going Invoker. It's too bad, because I didn't want to go the elemental route. I suppose we'll need the Shadow class package of weapons and chaos skills before Acolyte of Chayula is relevant without weird uniques/weapon combos. I feel the same. I would love a massive overhaul for that Ascendency. We need better quarterstaff abilitys. (A Chaos variant working like Ice Strike and Tempest Flurry would be very nice)
Take Consuming Questions and Ravenous Doubts and make one out of it. Add "Chaos Mana Leech" Reality Rending: Remove all / Gain 20% of Damage with Hits as extra Chaos dmg Waking Dream: Increase pick up radius Embrace the Darkness: Change "Remove all Spirit" in max Spirit is 100 reduce max darkness per level to 4 Something like this would be nice, the numbers are just placeholders. |

I want to play a Chaos monk. I do not want to play an Invoker. The dps nodes around Monk are Elemental, typeless 'attack/melee/crit', or LOLPOISON. Only 2 of the 20+ Quarterstaff skills mention chaos. Acolyte of Chayula desperately needs dev attention as there is currently a major lack of design space implemented for this ascendancy.

Chaos Monk with consistent dmg, please

" This feels to me like a consequence of not having the other weapon types available. I've noticed that only one of the two available ascendancies for any of the classes feels even close to fully realized, and I've come to the conclusion that it's due to weapon availability. I think being limited to Quarterstaff and Maces for melee weapons limits Chayula, and I suspect they are designed with daggers or another 1H weapon in mind. |
