Map sustain is absolutely terrible. Here's how to fix it.

I'm level 76. I got up to tier 7 maps, but in those tier 7 maps I kept getting tier 1-4 waystones to drop. This despite the fact that I have a 30% chance to drop higher tier waystones and 20% increased quantity of waystones on my atlas tree. Eventually I ran out of tier 7 waystones and had to drop back down to tier 6, but the same thing happened. Low tier stones kept dropping. Now I'm doing tier 5 maps. This feels real bad.

Waystones that drop in a map should have a very high chance to be of equal level to the map they dropped in. If I'm doing tier 7 maps, the vast majority of the waystones dropping should be tier 7. Let's say 70%. 20% of waystones should be a tier higher (increased by atlas tree nodes). 10% should be lower tier.

It's that simple. If I run a tier 7 map and get 4 waystones that are all tier 1-4, that's not good.

I have the nagging feeling that that's how it's supposed to be and either the numbers are bugged, borked, or something is wrong.

At the very least you shouldn't get maps more than two tiers below wherever you are so you can at least combine them on the forge once you get 9 to get back on track.

Tedium =/= difficulty.

Also tedium is the death of fun.
The idea is that you should start not only transmuting and augmenting your maps but also regaling them around those tiers, the increased raw regal drop rate at those tiers helps.

The problem is that this doesn't work in practice, because as I outlined it in another post not all mods give waystone drops (which also means you have to choose between better rewards or being able to continue running those maps, which sucks big time but is another issue) and you don't have any control over which ones you get. Regaling my maps kinda worked for tiers 7 to 10, but at 10 if you don't have at the very least 150% waystone drop chance, you're likely not gonna get any decent tier map. Which means, a single mod not giving waystone drop chance and you're screwed. And if the intent is to make us use exalts, well that's really dumb, because tier 10 maps absolutely do not give 1 exalt each.

And yeah there's no justification for being able to drop tier 1 maps in tier 10s.

When you run towers there is no reason ever until they patch it to run it above T1 of normal rarity. You will complete it easy and not waste maps on a tower, that has about 100 monsters in it.

The real way to fix this is by only running your highest maps you have in irridated. As you are climbing to T15 which I assume you have none of you need to have the 10% waystone tier nodes. You can grab these it costs five points. Now with irridated you can drop +2 to the current tier you are running. If you happen to fight a map boss then it can be another +1. I often get drop of T14 T14 T15 from one single boss in irridated maps T12 and higher and you can to. Bosses have better loot.



However, You should save every Boss node for T15's as these bosses are how you gain the map atlas boss points.

I have been juicing as hard as I can, straight line to towers, dropping precursors in a huge area to get multiple maps with 10-35% waystone qty and/or item qty in many cases, I have been regalling since T4's and I consistently run out of them constantly. I've also been exalt'ing whatever I could to get as much waystone dropstone chance modifiers as possible. I'm constantly running out of currency and waystones. I hit this "wall" at T4 going to it from T3. I hit it again at T6 from T5. I hit it again at T10 where I ran my last NINE t9 waystones and didn't see a single T9 or T10 waystone drop. Now I am stuck at T13 1/6 progression and I've ran 6 T11's and only seen 1 T12 stone. I'm about to be running 3 tiers under what I am supposed to be doing to progress.

How can I even be competitive in the ladder when itemization is a position like this?

Please just let Doryani sell the common white text tier of waystone your quest is currently on, or at the least, the one before so you can spend the gold upgrading T12's to T13's and have an actual gold sink. I really don't get what GGG was thinking.

I have all the atlas passives my current knowledge will allow for higher tier waystones, higher item quantity, and higher qty of waystones as well as the 100% rarity of waystones and it is completely abysmal.

And after the 1.0.0e patch now my Act 3 waypoints are just 'Missing'.

Great time to go on holidays GGG. Bork everything. Take a break.

Exactly, I've been running +2 lvls quite often and looking for corrupted areas to irradiate with the precursor tablets. It just seems impossible to maintain my current tier. I'm always losing progress and currency. The only way I made it to T13 even though I am not weak or dying is by trading for more waystones and praying it keeps up. Sometimes I'll get lucky and get a bunch on the 250-300+% waystone drops, but 95% of those are 1 to 9 tiers under what I am running. This is absurd.
Can confirm, Trading is basically necessary to sustain T15 mapping. You get Poorer from juicing these waystones trying to sustain and make 0 profit.

Completly agree, It's Trash even at 400% drop rate and Quality % upgraded you get dogsh!t. You get Waystone T2-3 dropping 90% of the time in T15 and It's Trash. This is in need of dire adjustment. You lose all your currency just trying to sustain mapping.
