Cold spells nerfs arent a bit unhinged?
Im playing cold, no guides no nothing, and we are getting more nerfs to cold, freeze will be harder to buildup now on the second one, i already have to freeze mobs multiple times to kill them and i picked cold because of the nod that says i ignore resists on frozen enemy!
"Basically it's a situation in which a certain skill is so powerful that players feel no other method of playing the game is viable." so the reason that people were picking cast on freeze/freeze buildups its not because it is SO GOOD that its not worth using other spells, its actually because the other spells are SO BAD thats there is no chance of doing anything with them! Give the other spells a bit more of potential to deal damage. Cold snap unfreezes and does not do enought damage to payoff out of that, but we still do it, why? its the best option. Comet its slow, so, yeah, kinda weird to used all the time? Ice wall POG, 3 charges, shards do ok damage, nice freeze buildup with the passive tree to help out, create space, all a mage wants. Ice nova Dogs wouldnt poop that, we have it because sometimes you just need push things away, i wish we could push that skill away too, sad to be coldmage. Frostbolt... ohh the frostbolt, its slower than the 9gag snail that try to kill people, bad damage, ok freeze buildup, people do scatter for freezing things + support to freeze, i use it w/o dmg reduction, and still its damage its so low, that i feel like im using Ice nova. Eye of winter people say its good, but i cannot see it, i use it, projectiles misses every single target, the damage on that its lower than frostbolt, make enemy crits weaker or something? like.. why? why not simply reduce damage caused, we need to luck out so the mob can crit us so we can get the crit reduced? to the trashbin oh yeah, does the 50% more damage, does it worked on chilled ground? no idea, i feel like it does not, who knows maybe my build its just bad enought to not deal damage? maybe my lvl 6 weapon needs to be swapped? but i cant find one that do more damage on the spells, nor i cna craft one. wall of text end; so what you guys say about cold spells build (chrono here so i dont get the cool stuff that elementalists gets, nor also any cooldown spells to use the chrono thing) is it worth it? too many consecutive nerfs? I had the exact same experience as you. I've always loved cold skills and was unable to play one in POE1 (I tried Ice Shot once and it nearly sent in my GPU up in flames). Idk why but cold skills seem to be the death of GPUs in POE1.
So I went into POE2 determined to make a cold build. After experimenting around, it seemed quite obvious that the 'cast on ailment' skills were an essential part of the sorc's kit, so it was really a no brainer to slot comet into cast on freeze. It did the job quite nicely. And then the nerfs came. I was absolutely determined to keep my cold build, so after a couple more 'science' moments I realized conversion is a thing. Yeah I know it's not EXACTLY the same since you are required to use a non-cold skill, but you can keep most of your kit and skill tree and essentially still freeze using non-cold skills so...better than nothing I guess :) I'm pretty ok with how it turned out, the build is rather spammy and I still need to trim a few more skills here and there, but it's performing well overall. I leave this information for you to experiment with if you wish. Alternatively, I can go more in detail if you'd like, but just keep in mind that there are multiple viable ways to use conversion. |
