Damage reduction for Dual Wielding

I'm assuming you guys no what you are doing, so this is probably just someone being salty and you guys can ignore, but seeing giants blood I decided to spec my entire build around that dual wielding two handed maces. I felt like I was doing fine, ignoring that -30% damage penalty, until my stat reqs starting getting too high, and decided to see how much I would do single wielding without it, and lo and behold, I do way more damage. I guess I can use a shield or something if I want to keep it, but is 30 too harsh? I know you get extra stats and what not, but it feels like you should be doing more damage with dual wielding, not less.

just some feedback

Its mostly a gear issue I believe. I was planning a similar build, but I've found one REALLY good mace, to the point that swapping in a second mace doesn't make up enough damage for the 30% I've lost from the primary weapon. I imagine later on I'll eventually get a mace that's just as good, if not better, than it. Although losing the defensive stats from having a shield will hurt.

Doesn't help that the two-handed mace + tower shield combo looks impressive as hell.
i have 2 hand mace's with basically the same dps and my skill put that i lose like 50% of the damage with only one of mace equipped... that make sense?
