PoE 2, Hungry Fangs affliction and "hits"
In the Trial of the Sekhemas there is an affliction called 'Hungry Fangs'. This affliction has the text 'Monsters remove 5% of your Life, Mana and Energy Shield on Hit' which in most cases is not an issue. However, certain attacks or environmental effects seem to be treated as 'hits', causing a huge amount of damage immediately. Consider the following clip where only 2 Honour damage is dealt, but 2281 health in less than a second.

Yep, just lost an ascendancy run to this bug. Same walking urn mob caused it too. Seems like a bug, hopefully they look into it soon. Won't play the trials anymore until it's dealt with (my other options were the AWFUL smoke options that make runs utterly unplayable).

I had urnwalkers + hungry fangs end 3 uber runs today. Those spreading needles on the ground deal many hits, which obviously makes the 5% life removal a bigger problem than it normally is. I think the attack dealing hits is a design choice, but the combo with this affliction is extremely overtuned.
What I'm not sure is intended is the fact that evasion seems to be completely ineffective here. This ground effect is fast moving and almost impossible to avoid in something like a chalice trial when these mobs are clustered around 2 rares with a ton of ground effects, player ground effects, etc. Brutal and completely unexpected way to lose a run (or in my case 3 runs). Hope they address this. Thanks for posting |
