Controller support is good but missing ability to move overlay map
|
I decided to try to play with my DualSense controller on PC and it is actually quite good.
I know there are changes coming after the alpha, but I don't know what they are so just adding some input here. Also, I've heard that you plan to implement where we will be able to use keyboard inputs while using the controller which will fix my below issues I think, but if these are missing from the console version, it seems like it would be good to have this there. 1. I can't zoom in and out (scroll mouse wheel functionality) as far as I can tell. There's times I like to scroll in to admire the artwork but can't seem to figure out how to do it with controller. 2. I can't move the map overlay. With the maps being as big as they are, they go off screen (playing on 1440p) and I can't move it around (can use arrow keys on keyboard but doesn't work when in controller input mode). I may be able to zoom the map out to do see the whole thing at once, but then it would be too small for me to see details, so would be a tradeoff that I wouldn't like. Side Note: I would like to be able to see the controller inputs. You can see them for keyboard but not for controller. I assume this is known and will be coming. I thought it might be the contextual buttons 1, 2, and 3 that you have available, but I haven't seen a use for them yet. Possible ways to implement: What does R3 do? Can we click R3 and with that depressed, we can use the left stick or the d-pad to scroll or move the overlay? Or L3 with the right stick? Using the default d-pad down would close and when you open it again, it would recenter, so no need for a way to recenter through button input. Although, if possible, long-press of the map button would recenter it if it is currently open. Currently, the Options button opens chat, but we also have a way to bind chat to a button too. Maybe an option to make the option button a toggle to scroll. Not sure that would be very user-friendly unless it was a toggle to a mode that made it so your normal inputs wouldn't work and would be the scroll mode inputs until you toggled it off. Actually the toggle mode would work great for the R3 option above too. Last bumped on Dec 16, 2024, 10:45:29 AM
