Gemcutter's Prisms? What do they actually do for the skills that don't have a quality desription?

For example some crossbow attack skill gems like Galvanic Shards don't have a quality effect description when you examine them. Do the gemcutter's prisms actually work for these skills? Can any one confirm if they give you a damage boost? I don't want to waste my currency without knowing for sure.

Yes, for the Galvanic Shards I found in the ammunition tab that it gives you extra bolts. Thanks for that.
