Things that makes act 3 so boring compared to the other acts
- The size of the maps.... So big that it makes it boring. Some maps took me an hour to find the objective because I missed a little corner and it took me forever to go from one side of the map to the other to find it. Dying and resetting the mobs makes things incredibly tedious when you have to go again on those huge maps.
- Some of the bosses like the sun priest and the witch (only 2 that comes to mind right now) have teleport moves that takes melee character forever to kill them because you have to wait for the teleport sequence to end and when it does you have just 1 second to hit the boss before having to dodge and then wait again for another teleport sequence that takes forever to end.. - The aim with WASD (this is just in general) is just atrocious. Please fix that. Most of the time to hit a boss I have to click at 3 different places on the boss for my character to finally hit it. Notice how I don't talk about difficulty. The difficulty is fine. Those are just a few things that make this act incredibly boring for me. They just aren't "Fun". I loved act 1 and 2. Act 3 is just killing the game for me right now. It's like they just rushed it before releasing early access. Last bumped on Dec 15, 2024, 11:13:59 PM

Playing the same map multiple times doesn't help either.
Nor does having 1-2 checkpoints in the entire zone, and you have to hunt for the waypoints instead of them just being at the zone entrance like normal. The carrot of finding vaal artifacts to sell to npcs falls flat when you realize they don't go for hardly anything at all, and are spread out all over that giant map, that you have already done before just recently. This is like Backtracking 3.0 ; and people generally don't enjoy doing it for pointless reasons that look like padding runtime. Going back to town by the end of act 3 is a really infuriating design, especially for an online game that requires a ton of loading screens, for even opening the map. It results in, again, a lot of going to the same area over and over again that has no relevance to you other than to presumably pad time. Last edited by JoeShmo#1872 on Dec 15, 2024, 10:55:06 PM

You didn't like Act 3, you say?
Just wait until you do it again on Cruel, where everything takes twice as long to die, when you're still wearing a lot of your gear from Act 3, and you run out of useful gem supports. |

Doesn't help that there are map icons bugged, telling you that you have missed something...in a huge zone.

" Yeah ... I understand why GGG decided to bridge the unfinished campaign to maps by just making us do it all over again .. but that ship sailed years ago and forcing players to go back to that old way of playing is really trying patience with a game that's already full of flaws. I get to the end of act 3 .. nope out, and make a new character. And that's only going to last a very short while. It was already arduous in PoE1 to make multiple characters after having done the same campaign run for 7 years, now we're 'speed running' it before the game is even launched. Just, no. The acts take way too long, and the zones are filled with a ton of busywork. 20 hours to beat PoE1 was a grueling joke, made more palatable knowing you could get low level uniques to speed the process up drastically ( Until they nerfed a bunch of it ). Now we have 50+ hours, and the uniques don't match up to the same level of power gains. Just, no. |

Personally I found Act 3 much more enjoyable than Act 2. The vibes for Act 1 are probably best, but the set designs for the last parts of Act 3 are 10/10.
There's a lot of small details to help you find your way through Act 3, but yeah, its not something you catch the first time around usually. The Infested zone, for example, has different environments in it to draw you towards what you're looking for. E.g., it becomes swampy towards the bog to the fire witch, the insects with the rare boss has giant insect mounds, and so on. The jungle doesn't have too much direction, but I feel like that's kinda the point of it - being a big jungle to explore. Even the quest description says make your way through the jungle and look around rather than have a firm direction. |
