Path of Exile 2 - The Disconnect Between Name and Game

The game shouldn't have been called "Path of Exile 2". When something is marketed as a sequel, there is an expectation of continuity.

If the goal was a soft reboot, or a companion game aimed at a different audience, it should have been called something like "Path of Exile: A Ruthless World".

Existing players would have immediately known what this implies, new players could have tried out both games and made up their mind about each game separately, and the whole drama would have been way less intense.

This entire situation is, in my opinion, more a PR/marketing failure that resulted in this huge gap between expectation and reality.

disagree, i needed few days to get used to the sequel but now it feels very familiar. i recently saw an old interview about this, and its expected form long time players of poe1.

P.s. the current scarcity is what poe1 used to be btw

To be fair, the largest player influx was during Heist League, and generally around that time.
I'm sure that the people, who have been around since the beta had different expectations, but I don't think that's necessarily representative of the majority of PoE players.

No it´s not, stop talking about something you know nothing about, i played the game since day 1 of open beta, i was glued from start to finish, never felt the game was bad, or stingy with the loot or whatever, played every season since then with 1 skip or 2 to alleviate the burnout, now in PoE 2 got bored in 5 days, it´s not even the scarcity, the game is a slog, it´s unfair (hello on death effects), the depth got gutted in half, and it even hurts myself saying this, but even D4 grabbed my attention for longer, and when i quit (probably after 2 or 3 weeks) i never touched it again.
