Delirium Bugs and Feedback
|
Ran delirium and maps with added delirium as an SRS Infernalist. Firstly, for bugs, there is an issue with the delirium fog knowing when, if at all, to end. The bug was very apparent the first time, as the fog remained well after I cleared the map objective and boss. As I continued running maps, I noticed the fog lacked a lot of consistency in knowing when to end, and seemed quite random as opposed to Delirium in POE1. While mapping, it is also possible for no rewards to be generated after opening a Delirium Mirror, as the counter stays at 0 with 0 progress. I'm not as convinced that this is a bug, however for the two Delirium unique bosses, their boss health bar is displayed significantly away from their spawned location and is extremely distracting, however this may be an intentional design decision to create stress which will be elaborated on later.
Delirium rewards being consistent is the greatest change, and I really appreciate it, as opposed to running Ritual, which still rewards a lot of seemingly random junk. Maps with added layers of delirium, however, have seemingly no beneficial rewards despite risk, however play-time with this was limited due to the below. My biggest issue is adding layers of delirium to maps. The Delirium effect severely impacts visibility by desaturating the screen. While this is an intentional design decision, and adds a level of risk by making mechanics, ground effects, abilities, mobs et cetera. indiscernible, there are several issues with this. One, some maps are more affected by this delirium effect than others due to their design, the mobs that populate it, and colour scheme. Secondly, the difficulty introduced crosses into being unplayable. Due to the complete lack of visibility, it is essentially guaranteed that death will be an outcome. While I appreciate the thematics of actually being physically impaired and my eyesight strained, if not outright blinded, it is not good for my actual game play. I can't imagine having even the remotest visual impairment and playing this game mode either, as accessibility is thrown completely out of the window. This is increasingly discouraging due to how death works in POE2, with losses in exp, map, and rewards/ground loot. If I had to choose between death having no risk however, or more accessible game modes and content, I would prefer content to be accessible. Otherwise, I will be avoiding this mechanic while mapping, especially with the very real fatigue it induces. Hopefully in the future the delirium visual effects will be toned down so death can remain high risk without impacting play-ability. Last bumped on Dec 15, 2024, 3:35:41 PM
