Multiplayer crash when using Solar orb with fiery death support gem

We ran into a weird problem where everyone else beside one guy was crashing to desktop randomly while playing in a party.

Based on our testing it seems that the crash can be replicated with these steps:

1. One player uses solar orb with fiery death support
2. Players are NOT close to each other (it seems that if you're basically in the same screen next to each other the crash doesn't happen)
3. Kill enemies with solar orb until the fiery death proc happens to an enemy
4. All the other clients in the party crash except the one player who cast the solar orb

If you're experiencing frequent multiplayer crashes where one player stays in the game it is probably a good idea to ask them to take all skill gems away and test them one by one to find the combination that breaks the other clients. In this case it wasn't the main skills but a specific support gem with a specific skill and the support gem effect had to actually happen before it caused the crash.

There may well be other skill combinations as well that cause crashes and they may or may not be conditional like this one requiring enough distance between the party members.

I have been having this same issue, using solar orb with fiery death support. Other party members crashing when they move away from me.

Had the same problem, played with a friend and the game kept crashing. We had been playing together the whole time without any problems. Recently he changed his build. Thanks to your post we found out that fiery death support gem is the problem. Very good error analysis. Also that it only crashes when he is out of sight. Removed support gem and since then never crashed again.

Thank you for bringing this to light. Been wondering what is crashing my team mate for nearly a week now. Had Fiery Death on my Explosive Shot and by removing it, it seemed to fix this issue.

Hey everyone, I found out the crashing problem seems to come from the Fiery Death support gem. I’m running a combo with Solar Orb and Flameblast, and during testing, I used Fiery Death on Flameblast (without Solar Orb) and my party members still crashed. Once I removed Fiery Death, I could safely use Solar Orb and Flameblast again.

This was the issue for my group as well. One member using FD and myself and 2 others would randomly crash. Thanks for finding this issue!

Can confirm, Fiery Death support in Solar Orb caused crashing with every party member in the same map but not next to the user. Asked them to remove the support gem and no further crashing from any party member.

Yes, can confirm it is the fiery death support as the culprit. Took it out ran fine, same map ran made sure I was away from party put back in and insta crashed his game.

I however an proccing with fireball so it is not tied to solar orb at all.
