Suggestion to GGG Minion Playtesters

Here's the set-up to immediately see how wrong Minion AI is in POE2.

Step 1: Select Infernalist and allocate Infernal Hound. You only need this mastery to see the problem.

Step 2: Mark the 3 +spirit quests as completed and equip a 140 spirit spectre and 40 spirit body armour.

Step 3: Allocate 10 of any combination of your favourite skeletal minions. Bonus points if you use Skeletal Brutes because that makes the problem even more obvious.

Step 4: In order, run and complete an Ablation, Mire, then Lost Towers in that order.

Step 5: Repeat step 4 another 4 times if you didn't see the problem the first time.

If GGG doesn't acknowledge and provide some kind of solution for this soon (by soon, I mean by as early as end of next week), this will be an issue that will cause minion players to quit the game entirely.

It gets to the stage where heavily speccing into Revive becomes appealing not because your minions are dying, but because you need to respawn them for the nth time they've all failed to use an open door, bridge or my favourite: Chaos Trial elevators.


The pathing code simply is non-functional at the moment, please fix this.
I totally pivoted away from minions as i hadn't the DPS even with heavy minion perk investment. They aren't worth it basically

I dunno, I've been getting pretty damn good results out of contagion unearths, raging spirits popping out of a solar orb, and skeleton archers set up to shotgun 3 gas bombs per command, using clerics to keep the bois rolling (and a dark effigy hanging out at the backline spewing like its a unicorn and it ate too many lucky charms).

I've also heard of people using tri elemental skeletal mage builds to hugely walk and smash results.

That said, you may notice a trend there.

Skeleton archers? shoots stuff.

Unearths? spawns where there are bodies, bypassing pathing.

Raging spirits? Way too much bad attitude to bother with such things as barriers.

Skeleton mages? Also shoots stuff.

No skeleton bonk bois were found that day, and that definitely calls back to the fundamental problem of minions die instead of snapping back to you due to their own bad pathing.

Skeletons are for bonk. Make skeletons bonk again.

As with what the above poster said, no issues with DPS. I've been doing a mix of summon raging spirits and then arsonists. My DPS is actually really good in T15 maps, and has been great since the start. The issue is that it takes like 20+ seconds to get my minions through a door into a room to apply the DPS. Compare to any other build where they just walk in and start attacking, it's painfully slow. I've only managed to get so far into it due to basically pivoting into pure support and playing with a friends archmage spark caster, who just blinks through a door and casts a spell to clear a room.

yes, minion collision and ia is ruining everything. WHY DID YOU MAKE THEM DIE OUT OF SITE, they should just teleport like you did with them on trial elevators

i've gotten to the point where i think poe2 is a significant step BACKWARDS.

minions are braindead. ai doesn't fight minions. we can't convocate our minions.

ground death effects have been argued against for a decade, and yet here we are.

sanctum and ultimatum were annoying, divisive mechanics - let's put them at the very forefront of the game.

the map system is closer to a last epoch copy than an improvement on poe1.

dropping leveled skill gems means they're insanely scarce at a time, then you're completely inundated with them later.

50% or more of every map is dead space with absolutely no function or purpose except to take up more time.


each day i play i feel a bit worse about the game. i really think there's a major problem here.

I suspect zombies is a build entirely of its own, probably done on a weird ascend that produces extra charges. Charge loop skills are kinda awkward AF to use among other minions by my experience.

EDIT: I lost track of the context overnight lol, point stands tho
