[PoE2] Essence monsters attacking even though essence was not activated

Hi, today I encountered a bug where essence monsters started attacking me even though I did not click the essence. They were able to do damage to me and were invulnerable to my attack at the same time. They were following me through the map. I was able to kill them when I came back to the essence and activated it. They also had some kind of "shroud" mod (lower visibility), don't know what it's called, sorry. Maybe that had something to do with it.
