Blackjaw, the Remnant should be tuned (in Cruel)
Let me say immediately that I like challenging games and I like what you did with PoE2 a lot.
Still, there are a couple of bosses that feel out of tune with the rest of the game and have some attacks that feel too frustrating, usually a combination of: - Hitting way further than the attack and vfx show - 1 shot killing you - Non-stop attack chains that will hit you even if you are focusing on defense and rolls. Obviously, having some of these is ok, but Blackjaw (in Cruel) has all of these in almost all his attacks. He literally slams for half his arena and one-shots you even if standing 1 meter outside the area (seems linked to him rotating a lot while doing the big slam immediately after the 3 slams with rocks). Also, his damage is somewhat inconsistent... sometimes the rocks thrown by his triple one-shot slam will one-shot you like the main slam, sometimes they only deal low damage and stagger. The fire attacks also have similar issues: the fire breath does zero damage or almost all my hp randomly. The biggest issue, however, is with the attack where he puts fire on the ground and shoots fireballs. I have been killed multiple times while not being hit by any fireballs, it's as if he is sending invisible shockwaves through the air. Also, that invisible damage zone seems to be quite large. On top of that, the stun duration on him is so low that I barely fire 2 grenades before he starts slamming again. The combination of all this stuff made me die against him much more than I died in the entire game before him. I was eventually able to beat him, but it's the first fight (actually the second-ish, more below*) that did not feel like overcoming a boss, but just hoping the positioning is perfect when he uses a specific skill (outside my screen for the fireballs, melee distance for the triple slam with rocks) or his stun bar is ready to be triggered. * The titan with the stone dagger in act 2 also has a similar issue, but only with his "Dagger slide + rocks" attack: the attack path cannot be anticipated because he is half outside the screen, and if you are too far you will get one-shot by the rocks without a chance of dodging, but also hits you if you are close to him without making contact. Hope this feedback helps! Last edited by Macellomatik#7988 on Dec 14, 2024, 4:48:22 PM Last bumped on Jan 11, 2025, 4:41:06 PM

Its a little comical to me, because i struggled hard on him when my dps was poor on normal. I had to go through loads of those triple slam chains. Died a loooooot of times to that third slam.
On cruel my gear and build was pretty solid and he was burst down before he could do much of anything. Seems unbalanced to me, poor design. Where you need to avoid "the fight" in order to progress. Rather id think they wanted you to learn the fight, the mechanics, and beat him that way. |

Yeah just died to that cancer on hc run invisible attacks + hc in the game is real fun, and is it just me or is he dealing more damage than final act 3 boss for some reason?

I'm fighting him on normal right now and I can avoid the majority of his attacks by dodging but the slams with the rocks that shoot out of it consistently one shot me from the other side of the arena. Even if I dodge they always connect. It definitely feels a little wonky. I got him down to 5 percent health and almost beat him when one of those slams came out and vaporized me at full health from across the arena.

This fight feels like Russian Roulette.
