POE 2 : Treasures of Utzaal

i died during the fight with the forge guy and he died directly after me dropping his quest hammer in the arena. I respawned at the checkpoint directly by the arena access lift however i can no longer access it and i cannot pickup the quest item. I have tried reloading the check point.
