Ascendancy Trials are horrible

Why make one of the most hated features in poe1 a core system in poe2? being locked from char progression because of the trials are really making people quit the game.

1.The honour system should be removed. the trials shouldnt be a no-hit speedrun attempt.

2. Trials should be optional

3. Create a quest so we just have to run a dungeon with a boss fight for ascendancy points.

Im ok dying a lot to learn patterns and mechanics from bosses and mobs but these trials are a turn-off.

Sanctum and Ultimatum were terrible choices for ascendancy trials.

This might be my most hated aspect of the game.
YUP! Im now 77 and refuse to ever step back into one. Missing my whole " class " essentially and it sucks. I dont even wanna make another class, because without that ascession you will struggle like crazy to get to where I am, and likely never get any further.

Not sure if theres even any point of playing. Its totaly killed the urge to play this game for me.

Honestly I would do it if I didnt have to do the whole stupid annoying thing all over again. Allow me to pick up right where I left off. Making it 16 or 23 rounds into something you dont even enjoy one second of, or feel good about beating, only to get sent back to the start for some stupid mechanic is the worse feeling ive ever felt in any game ever.

Oh, an taking 2 bars of xp away from me for every stupid death, that 90% of the time is the games fault is absolute insanity. Who the hell thought xp loss on death was a good idea? Have they never been apart of the game industry before?

I wanna see anyone on there dev team actually get to where I am. Im betting non of them ever have done anything they are asking us to do, and if they tried, they too would hate it and think its insane.

The honour system feels absolutely awful as a warrior. Especially with how slow everything you do as a warrior is, it feels like the honour system is there purely to punish your decision to play this class/this type of build. It basically just says sorry your character is no good here and there's not really anything you can do about it, but also this is basically mandatory as your ascendancy is gated behind it (thankfully chaos trials exist at least and are much better).

Of course you can hyper outscale the content to the point where you can one shot everything, and stack honour resistance, which then causes the trials to be somewhat doable, but even then you will still take incidnetal honour damage simply by virtue of being melee and having to be near things to kill them. This would be okay, except that it is pretty difficult to regain honour once it's gone.

Also no hit run on a warrior for the chest piece I'm not sure is actually possible unless you convert it into a ranged build somehow. That might be fine that some builds/classes cannot do this, but it really just feels like if you choose to play a warrior (in the classic melee sense - i.e. actually hitting things at close range) you are suffering many downsides and not gaining any upsides mechanically speaking. Not exactly sure why this is something that the devs think needs to be punished so heavily in almost every area (damage, survivability, action speed, movement speed).

Trials of chaos are a much better expression of this type of roguelike gameplay, since your build is still allowed to actually function in them and the modifiers are interesting to deal with rather than just frustrating.

They need to remove this nonsense. I hate it. I HATE IT with passion. Character progression should not be locked behind a trial.The majority of the player base hates it. WHY do they keep implementing it.
True, sanctuary from poe1 to poe2 as ESSENTIAL mechanic to character progression is terrible idea.
The "trials" are lazy development at its finest.

You don't have a "trial" that you have to do in order to ascend... which means to progress your build into a more specific and focused class, by making everyone do the same thing.

That's just dumb.

Ascendancy trials should be based on the ascendancy that someone is trying to unlock or progress in. It should be specifically created to test that strengths and weaknesses of that ascendancy.

This whole "one-size-fits-all" thing is just lazy.

PoE 1 labyrinth for ascendancy was perfectly fine. Not sure why they decided to screw it up using mechanics from 2 of the most hated leagues ever.

Fully agree, horrible choise, make 2 rng driven meachnics core for asc. points.

Ascendancy Points should be earned completele different. maybe a quest line, something epic ... whatever.
