What is the point of Wisdom Scrolls in PoE2?
What is the design choice behind still needing wisdom scrolls in PoE 2 vs drops that are already identified?
You don't even need the scrolls technically because there is a dude who can identify all items. Pretty nice btw. So, the only real value of wisdom scrolls I can see now is that you use them while in the map to identify something and either choose to drop it on the ground and move on, or take it with you. but, why though? Might as well just drop them identified immediately? Seems to have more positives then negatives. Last bumped on Dec 19, 2024, 1:03:54 PM

Totally agree with you. Having wisdom scrolls in PoE2 feels kinda pointless, especially since there’s an NPC who can just ID everything for you. Identifying stuff on the go just to decide if you want to keep or toss it seems like an extra step that doesn’t really add much.

They are pointless, and nothing of value would be lost if they deleted them and made all items drop Identified. It would also allow loot filters to only show you the gear you want, which would be nice qol.

GGG is inconsistent, they got rid of town portal scrolls but kept this.
Wisdom scrolls and the small backpack are relics of Diablo 2 from over 20 years ago. The ONLY reason these 2 systems exist is because 'D2 had this'. I hate the small inventory bag even more. Like gold drop is much lower than poe1 and respec is expensive so I need to get more gold, and how many pieces of useless blue gear can I put in my inventory before its full so I need to portal back to sell them again? |

You take wisdom scrolls in your t16 maps with you so you don't waste all 6 portals to id at hooded one. These are generally bought by the 1000's for an exalt or to off the currency exchange unfortunately I would speculate from the rmt's.
Regardless you must take these into the t12's and up or you have to exit wasting time to talk to a hooded one. I generally take 80 in and 30-20 augs and transmutes. If you aren't finding that many yellows maybe you should learn how to One sad Exile

I wish they'd do away with wisdom scrolls and identifying items in general.
It would also allow loot filters to be much more powerful (which might be why they don't want to do it I guess). |

They already explained this. You get double dopamine injection. First when a potential good item drops unid and then when you id it. Instead of just once-where a lootfilter tells you if you should pick it up or not. It is intentional design and probably better for the long term.
Example: YES! unid unique necklace drops. Could be an astramentis! - Dopamine YES! I ided it and it was an astramentis and it was a good roll!- Dopanine 2 Seems ok Getting all the info at once isn't always a positive. |

" What I would do: 1. Get rid of wisdom scrolls. GGG probably can see that nobody is using them anyway. 2. Blue and Rare (tier 0) should be already identified and allow for more specific filtering so we don't have to identify hundreds of shitty items. 3. Tiered Rares and Uniques can be unidentified. You need to take them to town and identify them to know what they are. It's a compromise that fixes a lot of things. One useless currency is gone. We can better filter trash. We still have double dopamine moments. Last edited by rastaqki#6957 on Dec 19, 2024, 1:04:15 PM
