Infested barrens: Missing a waypoint / backtracking problem

Most if not all areas have a waypoint directly behind the entrance. Infested Barrens, when entered from Jungle Ruins, does not.

This is a progress related problem. Usually, if I find the exit to the next area before I have all extras, I go to the next area, grab the waypoint, and go back again to "save progress" and prevent map reset. After I found the bonus items, I teleport home and take the waypoint to said next area then.

This is not possible here and thus we need to run all the way to the exit again
later (-> backtracking)
