POE 2 does not Feel Good
|
The game tries to incorporate dark souls difficulty and mechanics into an ARPG. I have played every dark souls From Software has to offer. As early as the original Demon Souls I was hooked. The best challenges are the ones players create for themselves SL1 runs etc.. Every souls game offers the player a chance to be OP in the early game. Players can suicide run to get a powerful weapon outplay or cheese an early NPC for cool gear. Beat a boss for a god tier weapon that's useful though the whole game if you build around it. Or collect crafting materials in late game locations if you can make it to them to overpower your weapon early. Sometimes just being over leveled in certain areas is enough to carry you through a difficult encounter. GGG has abandoned the power fantasy in favor of only offering the player difficulty as an early game option.
I am an avid melee player and path of exile 2 was supposed to fix the game for players like me. None of the ACT bosses are designed around melee. For example in ACT 1 the final phase of the boss is a constant spam without a sufficient pause of arena wide AOE. I needed Move speed on boots to even have a chance and was only able to strike once or twice per spam. Thinking the game was an ARPG I salvaged the boots to try and get higher level boots. No move speed. Again in ACT 2 the engineer constantly spams a one shot melee ability that you can only dodge once because the next hit always lands. I am 5 levels above the area. I am not tanky enough to withstand a single hit and I do not deal enough damage to kill her quickly enough if i do somehow manage to survive or "dodge". Please fix the game. Please bring back the fantasy and the fun. Last bumped on Dec 19, 2024, 8:02:01 PM

Update as i hoped from an actual ARPG the gods of RNG blessed me with a pair of move speed boots. The engineer is dead. I did not realize move speed could have such a crucial and negative affect in the outcome of melee encounters.
In Dark souls terms move speed was the difference between fat rolling and rolling with less than 70% and then of course the guys that spam roll around with no clothes and stab you to death with a dagger attack or one shot you with a club. I still wish the game had a little more to offer as a feeling of power in the early game. |

What about the Sechem trial? In my current build at level 32 (yes, I know it's far from the best, and I have only one unique item), I managed to complete only the level 22 trial. At level 28, I just lack the damage to kill mobs fast enough! Those damn crystals that need to be deactivated on time – who even came up with this crap? Sometimes it's outright impossible to kill all the mobs in time; I run from one to another, trying to avoid fights, but still fail, and then it's back to farming another key for the trial, like some Mario game! It's ridiculous! With the current drop rate for decent items, I'll hit level 35-40 before I get a unique item that gives me a decent chance to succeed, but by then, the result will be nearly worthless! What's the point of level 28 gear at level 40?
