Inherent block for dual wielding - giants blood

Why does dual wielding not give inherent block...Im using Giants blood to dual wield two handers and you get no block like you do in POE 1..seems like it forces you to use a shield for giants blood which is pretty lame.

Yeah, thats what Im doing now since I cant play my way.

My survival went up alot, just be careful of the triple cost of stat requirments. Also that DW 2Hs with a 30% damage nerf is....very not fun lol

2H+Shield is the way I guess.
Just seems weird that they decided to not go this way since all of the nodes say block chance and there is no reference to having a shield or not like in POE 1. I just assumed that DW would have block.
Dual wielding has a lot more good offense then it did in PoE1 is why. Dual wield is no longer a direct in between of 2 handers and 1 hander + shields.

You can roll up to +5(7 for 2handers) level of ALL melee gems on BOTH of your weapons and gem level in PoE2 has a far greater boost to attack skills than it used to.

Most melee skills also do about 40% more DPS while dual wielding.

Giants Blood + shield is nice, but doing 40% more damage and having potentially +14 gem levels is bonkers.
Yeah main issue those is with surviving. youll need a ton of armor and maximum resist to even have a chance. I think having base 15% block isnt crazy for DW even with 2h. since you cant scale the base block like you can on shields.

Unless they add something like fortify.

Fortify being a support that just makes you take less damage while using the supported skill or something would be pretty great.

I think for full damage the goal is to out leech enemies instead of rolling block chances. I'm not sure how good a fully built leech build is, but since there is no leech cap I assume you can get some crazy numbers with enough base leech and DPS. It won't save you from getting 1 shot though, but full damage is as full damage does.

Yeah seems like a lot of this game is super scuffed.

5 years in the making I am not impressed. The only thing better about this game is the graphics.

I agree with your thinking here its just theres no benefit to playing like that since you only get 1 death per map...so in my mind youre forced to play with a shield if you want to progress at all unless your skills are OP like Bens.
IDK when I swapped from a 1hand + shield to a 2hander on my melee character I started feeling stronger with leech then I did with the shield for my personal reference. You can't block the scary attacks anyways and you can either stun-lock or out leech everything else pretty decent if you have some stats invested into leech.

You could also have a weapon swap set up to easily swap between a shield and dual wield setup I image, although you would need the gear first.

I haven't really bothered gearing for Giantsblood yet, but I image the result would be similar with it. I use the 200% More Stun-threshold support on my main attack so my Leeching can't get stuttered.

If you don't have decent life, armour and resistance on your gear yet I image it's not nearly as viable though. Dual wielding is definitely more gear expensive than a shield.

I also made a post partially talking about how shit gearing decent resistance is and how it could be fixed if GGG actually were to bother updating resistances.
