Quest rewards to choose 1 out of 3 permanent buffs is terrible design
So there are quests that as a reward allow you to choose 1 out of 3 permanent buffs, i.e.
In act3 (cruel), the choise is: 1. 10% Chaos resistance 2. +5 every stat 3. something else In normal act3 there's another one with other 3 choices, something among the lines of: 1. Mana regeneration 2. Something related to ailment thresholds 3. something else I find that this is terrible implementation having to choose such things so early, especially without any ability to swap over. Maybe I want the 10% Chaos resistance now, but if a week later I decide to go CI this will be useless for me down the road. So there are two problems with this system: a) If the buffs are permanent, they must be even more generic, like choose 1 out of 3 attributes (i.e. +10), choose between elemental resistances, idk, something very boring b) If we must have such choices in-game then I would suggest to implement them in Pantheon-like system like in PoE1 so you can swap between them on the go. Worst case, you can make us pay gold to switch these or (if we really have to go this way for some reason) redo the quests, but please don't make these a permanent choice. I wouldn't say overall it's terrible design, I would say because of the lack of quest rewards, it feels bad.
The quest rewards need improved immensely beyond just skill gems for most, and 2 passive tree points for one of them. It definitely should be on the docket for improvement imho. |
