Critical? How do they work?

I am planing on building a pure mage. Not a summoner but damage. I want to use critical hit but I am unsure what passive skills to get in order to get critical hit to work?

As I understand it you can have a maximum of 95%? (from the wiki)

For spells does this include things like assassination or mental acuity? Or is it restricted to things like the spell critical chance and arcane potency?

It seems like it is fearly easy to get 95% critical on spells. Should I instead be conserned to get critical strike multiplyer?

Insidentaly is there a good place to read "need to know" things besides the wiki?

Spells are affected by things like assassination too (it works on spells and weapons). If no specific thing is mentioned, like ...for spells or ...for daggers, it works on spells as well as weapons.
Critical works as follows: Freezing Pulse for example has a base critical chance of 6%. If you take 50%increased critical chance, your new crit.chance is NOT 6+50=56%, but 6% + 50% of said base: 6% + (6%*0,5) = 9%.
