Frost bomb spell cascade second wind strip away spell echo elemental conflux clarity blasphemy temp chains eye of winter mobility considered casting glaciation flame wall fire mastery conc effect (optional) hypothermia (option dual curse self casted) - playstyle: drop frost bomb x2 on packs, frost wall up around mobs (this helps draw in aggro and will explode when frost bombs do for extra clear and impact) eye of winter is high mobility spell with ok dps, works well to freeze and kill basic stragglers and even some rares personally I'm going mana stacking MOM was able to clear t6 maps very easily, no risk of death and clear speed is close to my old cast on freeze setup. -30% boss DPS, +50-70% ehp - no more mana issues Last bumped on Dec 12, 2024, 5:15:01 PM

I've been playing with mana stack using Archmage with Cast on Freeze on my Stormweaver Sorceress.
At first I thought that my build was dead after the patch, because I was investing a lot of resources on my Comet trigger, but after playing a few maps I realised that my non-trigger damage is more than enough to carry me through the mobs. Even though some people are saying that you need to freeze bosses several times in order to trigger Comet, I still need to do it only once, so my boss damage is virtually unchanged. I don't know if it is actually necessary, because I did that before the nerf, but I've put 31% increased meta skill energy gain on my passive skill tree that might be a factor on boss fights post nerf. Even though map clear speed has been reduced, it was not in a way that prevents me from enjoying the game and my build in general. |

Yea cold sorc is still viable. For me cast on freeze is mostly dead though because it has no value for trash clear, and that's about 85-90% of the time spent.
It makes more sense to go blasphemy with a curse IMO, temp chains for example lets you run into packs much more aggressively without as much risk of beign surrounded and killed. Hypothermia will give a significant dps boost. Maybe worth it to gem swap into cast on freeze for bosses, I'll do some testing for sure. Here's my current tree if anyone needs, it's not perfectly optimized but works well enough for deathless mapping and fast boss clears. Aim for 3k mana +4 cold wand with other good rolls All that I respeced was the trigger nodes ![]() Also want to mention elemental conflux instead of archmage gives a massive EHP boost, it lets you play much more aggressively. did some more testing. ran a rare t6 map with delirium and breach. When I was using archmage and cast on freeze comet I would die to breach and delirium would make the map too hard to run. basically my mana pool would be constantly drained which killed my EHP.
with modifications to the build: taking off archmage and replacing it with elemental conflux, removing all cast on freeze replacing that 60 spirit with blasphemy temp chains increased AOE, then respecing those trigger passive points into extra curse and effectiveness I can say the build is 10x more well rounded and tanky now. Also if you're running EOW make sure you eventually use a well rolled snakepit ring and put caster catalysts on it. the +1 chain on snakepit is HUGE for EOW clear and mass freeze effect. Cast speed on the ring scales your arcane surge effects. I'm guessing I can probably do t11 maps without issue, maybe higher.
