Cast on Shock seems like a waste of resources now
Afaik, Cast on Shock wasn't really the problem. I understand the logic of wanting to nerf the energy gains. But with this skill gem it seems to have went a bit too far.
My build is probably fine, since I do plenty of damage with Arc for now. However, using two Cast on Shock gems requires me to sacrifice an offhand slot which could've been a shield or focus or a second wand. In the current state even though my Arc is doing considerable damage by itself (which I used to trigger), my Cast on Shock gems proc maybe three or four times a map. That feels like a wasted offhand slot to me. I currently don't see a scenario where cast on shock would actually be worth using, since you invest a skill slot + offhand slot and you get very little in return. It is possible I'm missing some other mechanics or combos where it would be useful. If anyone knows of a valid use-case for the gem, I'd be interested to hear it. Even though the line "gain energy only once per cast" has been removed from Cast on Shock, it still feels like I'm getting just 2 energy per cast. My triggered spells have between 160 and 200 energy required and I don't see the counter go up by more than 1% or 2% when fighting white mobs. I have not tested this enough yet to file a bug report. Since my build still works because it actually does damage on its own, I will continue to test this and see if there is a place for Cast on Shock for a lightning build or if it is just a meme gem now.
