Poe 2 not as promised? complete different game now

At Exilecon and afterwards it was said that Poe 2 would be an add-on and would be seamlessly connected to POE 1. Now it's like it's a completely different game.

Crafting is almost non-existent and is 90% less complex than in POE 1. But why? Why was so much cut out?

The GEM system limits builds. It has been said that POE 2 will be more diverse for builds and offer more options. You can only use a support gem once per build and everything is limited.

Items hardly drop at all and when they do, the 99% white and blue bad items don't help me because no currency drops for upgrading.

slow movement.. no real travel skills like in poe 1... slow running, slow rolling.
.
Sanctum trials are the worst thing I have ever experienced in poe.. I now have to do this over hard nonsense to activate my ascendary.. so I will never do it.

What POE 1 was about, getting stronger and fighting through hordes of enemies, has been removed. Now fights consist of 90% rolling and 10% slow attacks.

The atmosphere and music are perfect but that alone doesn't make POE 2 good for me

THIS is how POE 2 should be... POE 1 as an upgrade.. THIS is the good old POE 1 gameplay. Speed, action and complexity

They decided at some point in development after they had made way too many features that it was going to be its own game. I don't know exactly when this was announced publicly, but yeah some people are mad that they bought so many supporter packs thinking they were helping the development of a PoE 1 expansion when suddenly it turned into something completely different.

They also said you would just get ascendancies from simply leveling up at exilecon 2019 when the game was still planned as an add-on to PoE 1(their goal was to most likely delete labyrinth and move all its rewards into the rest of the game while streamlining the experience of picking your secondary class by just attaching it to character level, at least that's my best guess), but now it's tied to Ultimatum and Sanctum trials and most people are absolutely despising those. The game is just a mess atm.

Not exactly mad, but yeah it is true though
I had not kept up with PoE2 untill recently (since 2019-2020)
And only learned not long ago that it was going to be a seperate game

It can be a bit annoying when you see some of the vocal loud minority of obnoxiously behaving newcomers say stuff like
"this is our game, you have your game. Just go play PoE 1"

Feels the same, I'm so disappointed and sad.

And I'm bored about people explaining me why PoE 2 is good and I should not complain because I still have POE1.

I'm just as disappointed as you. I just wanted a new, better, shinier Path of Exile with a new campaign and new ascendancies, but at its core, still good old Path of Exile. This is not it.

And keep in mind, of all the people praising the pace and difficulty of the campaign, 90% do not know that the campaign is un-skippable or that they can't play new leagues with their old characters. So I really wonder how many of them will still be around after the first official league ends.

The original plan was that, yes. But with how much it evolved from PoE 1 they decided to split them up into two, so diehard PoE 1 fans (like you?) would still have one game with mindless zoom-zoom.

New crafting methods will be added in leagues, just as it always have in PoE 1. The changes we've seen so far makes it a better experience, who really wants to click alteration orbs 1000 times?

The limit makes you think twice what gems you use, more strategy, instead of using the same BiS-gem for all skills.

Their philosophy was fewer but better items. Stacking rarity gives better chance for higher tier mods. If you think more item drops are better, then I dare you play PoE 1 without an item filter.

Also, it's better they start with lower droprates then increase them if needed. Starting too high then lower them will just make people cry nerf.

Their vision is a slower more strategic gameplay, not the PoE 1 zoom-zoom. There is movement speed mods. And if you didn't know there is a spirit gem that replaces your dodgeroll with blink.

If you're not getting stronger in PoE 2 too, you're doing something wrong.

Zoom-zoom was something PoE 1 turned into, it was never GGG's initial intention.
