Potential character bricking issue

There's currently a way to brick a character through the following steps:
1) Finish act 3 on normal mode up to the point where you are told to click the time portal in order to progress to the next difficulty
2) Remove and/or change your build, gear, or gems significantly enough in order to weaken your character
3) Enter the portal to the next difficulty and get sent to The Riverbank
4) If your character is too weak to beat the Miller boss of the Riverbank, your character is stuck there and effectively bricked. And that's because you can't portal out of The Riverbank.

The easy fix is to let players who completed act 3 be able to town portal back to a3 from The Riverbank.

Or, hear me out. This might sound crazy but maybe don't completely sabotage your character deliberately. In order to achieve that your would have to knowingly weaken your character in order to achieve this result.
If you're going to act stupid then you deserve the results you get.
