Fire Spells and Ignite feel really bad
Trying to level a ignite sorc, and the fire spells are so bad compared to the cold and lightning spells, at least until you get fireball. The skills are extremely clunky, and the clear is terrible, single target is also much worse but manageable.
Incinerate and Ember Fusillade were clearly designed only for WASD movement, and I am having to use WASD just to be able to properly aim my skills, when I prefer to use M+KB. The difference between this and for instance lightning bow, are insane. Bow does more damage, has better clear, and more single target. Last bumped on Dec 24, 2024, 3:44:55 AM

+ agree
having spells that are made for WASD and worse on mouse like ember fusillade is a horrible design choice. |

Fire is definitely the worst one in a variety of ways. Way out there on the tree. Worst effect. Worst effective damage. Most vulnerable. Most clunky and/or weak spells. No ascension synergy for the Sorceress.
I do like Fusillade quite a bit, personally. It and Flame Wall are the two spells I consider to be good. Though that's from a WASD perspective. The rest are not stellar. But even for Fusillade, well, I have a pure fire sorceress and one that is tri-element, utilizing Fusillade alongside Spark, Flame Wall, and sometimes Ice Wall. The latter is way more effective, despite being a three element build. Last edited by Axterix13#5693 on Dec 23, 2024, 3:42:20 PM

The mana-costs are also a factor when comparing speels to bow-skills.
First time playing a bow made me laugh about the costs compared to spells or slams. |

Incinerate needs a major buff/change.
It feels 'ok' mobility wise on a pathfinder with mobility support but outside of that it feels terrible. It should be changed to non-ignite burning damage that builds up a damage counter on enemies that triggers an ignite based on the total damage dealt by the ability while channelled up to 4 seconds. That way you can still have your other fire spells ignite while you incinerate and you can build up a bigger ignite if you channel long on a single enemy. I think this fire dot system should also apply to fire wall. |

I have been playing perma Demon form witch the entire time. I'm level 83 and have been doing a fire build. Until act 3 normal campaign after I got fireball, everything was awful. AOE clear with fireball is great but now around tier 13 maps, my damage is clearly falling off. I don't know how to scale it better either. I only have 17 skill points left and can't see where to place them that would make a meaningful difference in damage. Fire just doesn't seem to scale well late. Ignite doesn't seem to stack or scale meaningfully. Plus ignite feels so out of place late game with how fast everything is late game. The single target damage is mediocre at best. It actually seems balanced compared to Ice or Lightning late game. But they have the best of both worlds. With AOE clear and single target DPS.
Flame Wall is great. Maybe OP because other classes can use it better than a fire mage can. Ember fusillade needs a rework or a change, while it does great damage to single target with the right support gems. It feels clunky and doesn't fit into the combo spell type game play. When you use the unique that has it as a inherent it feels amazing like its a support gem almost but that unique staff doesn't scale well. Ember fusillade as a support gem would be better. Plus 50% of the support gems you have on Fireball you want on ember fusillade and half the support gems you think would interact with it well, do not interact with it well and do so in a way you wouldn't expect, for example wildshards. Incinerate carried me through act 2 but man was it so unfun to play. I walk at 1 meter a second constantly in danger of getting one shot by everything. It just doesn't do enough damage or something. There is no trade off for being in melee range of targets that can 1 shot you. There is the fire exposure effect but I already have 73% fire penetration from the passive tree, why would I need more. The exposure effect also doesn't last long enough for you to combo anything meaningfully off it. It expires before I can even cast my next spell. Solar Orb is great to an extent. For normal mob clear for the speed late game is, it just sucks. It doesn't interact with your other spells like lightning orb does. Ignite doesn't scale well in general. The only time you use it is for extra DPS on a high hp mob, a rare enemy or a boss. It just doesn't interact with your other spells very well and doesn't do that much on its own. Fireball. Thank god for Fireball. Once I got Fireball the game changed, now I no longer have to be in range of an enemy that can 1 shot me. Fireball is great up until about tier 13 way stones. Firestorm felt great until Cast on Ignite got nerfed. But it felt good during that time. It would overcast and would drain your mana but it could still help give you AOE mob clear but now it just feels out of place with how fast endgame is. I dropped it after CoX was nerfed. Flameblast runs into the exact problems that Incinerate has where the trade off for going into melee range doesn't seem worth it and that everything late game is just to fast for it to keep up or help you out meaningfully. |

Incinerate is the skill in the game most needing of a rework, it makes zero sense in design.
It's the only way to get fire exposure before you get one lousy level 3 exposure gem later, and exposure lasts for 4 seconds. Okay, except incinerate is extremely slow to charge up to full which is when it only STARTS building up exposure stacks, and these all disappear instantly by the way. It's not like it goes in reverse where the stacks all disappear slowly as well. Each time I need to expose an enemy, am I supposed to sit there moving slowly and charge up another incinerate? Then hope I can do some measly damage for 3 seconds, while dodging attacks? Then do it all again? I basically echo exactly what the above post said. Even firestorm used to be a little useful before CoI was nerfed. Now it's completely bricked, utterly useless. Why go through all that trouble to try and make it work and have it still be mediocre. No thanks. Last edited by AnimePillowCollector#2255 on Dec 24, 2024, 3:45:49 AM
