These same mechanics were forced into PoE 1 by the devs even though players hated them and begged for them to be removed. Instead they just spent more and more dev time trying to "balance" them and left them in the game for a while now.
So it's probably not going to be removed, for some reason the developers really want these random modifiers on monsters. |

bad game design in my opinion

" Oh it is, Archnemesis mods were one of the biggest mistakes of this game. And it seems like that's yet another lesson they did not learn from PoE 1. |

the mana siphon is the only thing I still die on with no apparent way for me to deal with it. I'm a level 95 sorc with roughly a 100 divine worth of gear. 9000 max energy, high dps, 5000 mana, high regens and maxed out resistances.
Especially in boss fights, where the aura is only then visible when the actual combat starts and the boss has some sort of jump/roll initial move. There is no reasonable time or distance to properly deal with it once the aura suddenly pops in. The only way would be to trigger the boss fight and then first hide cowardly at some corner of the arena. Last edited by WolfRayet#0993 on Jan 18, 2025, 3:07:15 PM

inb4 IT'S A DONUT, JUST STAND NEXT TO THE BOSS
The problem with this tactic is that you need to cross over the ring to stand next to the boss, which means dipping your toes into the mana siphon ring. The drain is incredibly fast, too. The problem compounds when the rare mob is twinned, or the rare has a teleport ability that dropst he ring right on top of you, or the boss forces you to move back across the ring to dodge a lethal slam. I'm aware how the mechanic works, what I said still applies.
